Fucking Regal Orb drop rate

Why's it automatically "common"? I'd be happy if they were as rare as chaos. Then at least I could be interested in the mountain of blues on the ground.

You'd just have piles of regals stacking up in your stash.

No, because I'd use them to actually play the game.
I've felt that Regal Orbs are too rare ever since I started playing years ago. I don't know why they insist on artificially inflating what should rightfully be a basic, mid-level crafting item into an end-game item.

Regals should be roughly as rare as Chaos/Vaal Orbs. The influx of three mod rares isn't going to destroy the economy, but the change would help many players upgrade their gear through Cruel and Merciless difficulties. And if that makes BIS item crafting insignificantly less expensive for the .1 percent or so of players it effects, I can live with that.
"crafting" items efficiently is something you do over time, in high maps

it generally isn't something you just set out to do and finish in an evening

i pickup blue items that interest me in 77+ maps and ID them, and aug if its an appropriate and max tier roll

if it is double max tier roll (or sufficiently high rolls), i will regal. etc. THIS IS VERY RARE AND UNUSUAL. i have run over a hundred 77+ maps on my current character, and i have only regal'd 2 items.

after the regal phase it becomes expensive, but you have to start somewhere. eternals can also be involved even at the agument phase (eg, Tyrannical, you can easily spend several exalts worth of alterations getting that ONE roll..or pickup thousands of blues...)

Found my first regal with the char I was levelling recently at lvl 71.
I know it's a great luck, I didn't expect it before 80-82.

Now I'm able to craft something expensive.

Have none of you really ever been to a level 75+ map?

I shit you not, you will be swimming in regals if you ever get there.

Seriously. It's stupid. Why do they balance the drop rate around trading? Players that are doing <75 maps get like no regals at all. Up the drop rate or get lost, GGG. This is no fun. You should give players options so they have to make hard choices. But no regals at all means you cannot choose. That is not good game mechanic.

Whaddaya think guys. Let's do this right away. Next patch.

I'm not sure that the Regal drop rate is balanced around trading. I do think they drop less often than they should. There is too much reliance on the recipe to acquire them. IIRC, when the recipe first came out the ilevel 75 was the highest map level.

I can imagine how much outcry there would be if GGG updated the regal recipe to ilevel 78.

Trading does obscure how valid the drop rates are. If GGG ran an SFL with no vendor recipes, I think they would have a much clearer view of how drops and crafting are not really working as they could be.

The hardest part of the recipe is always the rings and amulet. Just pick up the interesting ilvl 75+ rings/amulets and alch. You have the chance to get nice rolls. 1/10 always enough good to sell, and the crap ones good for the regal recipe.
We have an easy recipe, no need for drop buff. After 10x73+ map run im sure, i can make the recipe 5 times.

On the other hand the average rate is 1,5chaos=1regal (in invasion). This is a very nice rate for get some, if you need and cant make the recipe.
