The problem is not the "tanking" capability.

It is the dps check aka "healing phase" that renders any endurance based build (partially skill based builds) useless on this particular challenge. since they use tactics and minimal dps to "slowly burn down" enemy mobs instead of "spray and pray" tactics.

So no you are wrong, for any boss other then atziri (the only boss with a dps check/healing phase) tanks are very much viable.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
No dual Flame Totems on the list, I'm a sad panda now. In theory really seems to me like the totems should deal with the "healing phase" easily.
Dual Searing Bonds?

Are you suggesting i respec between every healing phase just to tackle it?

Since a character passive's tree augments his main ability, if this main ability is not sufficient to tackle the healing phase due to limited aoe or the absence of being ranged, you are very much "screwed over".

Just saying, your argument doesn't hold up, because you are suggesting using an alternate strategy with limited efficiency one a build that already try's it's best to augment another ability.

Someone posted a kill using incinerate in the past week.

dual wield doryani's catalyst detonate dead + chance to ignite + conc + prolif and you can kill the sacrifice phase on 3 player health.
2 random 40+ fire damage scepters might work at single player hp

+
any totem
+
traps
+
chaining spells
+ huge aoe spells like flameblast
+ damage curses
