There is already a flood timer for the chat AFAIK, that got put there because of the trade chat.
Now, the trade chat is a mess, a new trading system is in progress by GGG but noone here knows when it could show up, and until then : use poe.xyz.is

The idea is to either remove the rule UNTIL trade chat is changed, or remove it permanently yet incentivize trading in the trade chat (with a less strict trade post frequency limit and more items per post). The fact that I can sell things on global that I would never be able to sell on trade chat is indicative of a problem with trade chat that is driving people away who would otherwise be open to trading. This is bad!

It's not about a fear of competition, it's about reaching an audience who are willing to trade, but don't want to go to the trade channel because it is impossible to read. That works fine, but people sometimes still get pissy about it.

Spamming your items for SALE in global is unacceptable.

The problem with this is that it leads to something I see often, thinly veiled trade posts. "Hey guys, think I could get 1c for this?" "Wasn't there someone looking to buy this earlier?" and so on. Let's just skip the bullshit, implement some proper rules and fix the trade chat.

They can do something like MU Online/Dofus/etc, where there is a little store over your head that people can click on and an inventory screen comes up and they can purchase items for whatever value is posted. Then it's just waiting in town afk until something sells.
