Forum Spam Button

There are a lot of pointless and stupid threads in multiple categories (Especially the Beta Invite Discussion). I think it would be beneficial to the community and GGG if there was a Report Thread or Spam button on each thread, then when you click it, it goes into a sub-category of what kind of abuse, for example, like a thread that talks about Diablo 3, in the Beta Invite Discussion section. Someone (or multiple people) could click a button that says "Spam" or "Report" then it asks what kind of abuse was taking place, then they'd click "Wrong Category" or something along those lines.

How this would be beneficial, is it would reduce the amount of spam and stupid threads that don't help anyone at all. It would be easier to navigate and look for things on the forum that are relevant to what you're looking for, maybe for new comers.

Another neat feature to include could be a "Like" and "Dislike" button. Instead of having to post something if they had nothing really to say in the first place, they could just click the "Like" button. The more likes/replies a thread gets, the longer it stays on the front page. The exact opposite for the dislike button, if someone dislikes, it goes down the pages a bit.

Leave a reply of what you think, I'd just love to help clean up these forums and make it a easier place to navigate. :D

The like function would be kind of good. The LoL system has a similar system, and when a post is thumbed down enough, it is hidden unless people click to see it. Although I fear both of the systems you suggest might be abused by trolls. (i.e. the mass dislike someone's post just because they didn't win a beta key, or they report a certain user's posts as spam simply because that person won a contest or something).
Still, the forums could definitely use a level up and it's a great suggestion!

Great suggestion but there would need to be volunteer moderators to deal with the threads. I can't imagine a small indie dev like GGG can afford to hire moderators.

We actually have forum moderators. Check the gore thread a little below this.

I've recently changed my mind about the invite discussion forum. As long as it's not grossly inappropriate or illegal, let it be. The poor forum moderators would never get a break if all the useless things were reported.

If you're looking for useful threads in that section, just scan for the ones with the GGG emblem to the left. If you're looking for giveaways, anyone giving away a key will probably use a good title that's easy to notice. The rest are probably time-killers or complaints.

I'd volunteer to be a forum moderator, Hell, I'm on these forums everyday, why not do something a bit more productive, eh?

But yeah we do deal with threads if people pm them to us or if we come across them.

The beta invite section was purposefully created to house all the nonsense... so yeah, most of that thread isn't very useful and is very close to spam. We actually move stuff there that is essentially spam.

It's always good when the community can lend a helping hand, because the community in general is always going to be faster at reacting to a situation than individuals.

I personally think that aside from the beta invite discussion section that these forums are fairly clean. I scan these forums multiple times a day, every day ;)

Yeah, the majority of the forums are pretty decent! And aside from a couple of threads that refus to die and the occasional begging spam, even the Beta Invite section seems to be getting *slightly* better. At any rate, I'm enjoying the forums and feel like you are doing a fine job.

It makes me smile that the beta key forum was intentionally just a landfill for the shitposts.
