[SOLVED] Random GFX-driver CRASHES - FPS Freeze2Login (780 GTX)

thought vsync may be guilty for all this so i
first
installed the correct monitor drivers thought that would maybe lead to a better working sync.
but still got a crash after this.

now second
i run PoE without vsync
heating up my gfx card at
67°C currently
fps :
jumps from 250 to 200

seen 333, 500, and 167 too.

edit: sarn drops to ~40 FPS O___o
how can a gtx 780 drops to 40 FPS ???

lets see if i get a crash without vsync too.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)

crash even without vsync,

thus vsync is not the reason
and dropping to a lower clock boost is not the reason (because without vsync i was at max boost all the time)
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
after more and more crashes today i tought to myself.

"Ok, enough. head to battlefield 4 now"
bf4 didn't start due to some directx errors.

"hm, maybe something is messed up, and all this was no PoE issue at all?"

I reinstalled my OS. fresh install.
fresh driver, fresh directX.

with much hope i start playing PoE again.
i though the FPS drops are gone away and started to hope...

BUT again a crash like all the others before.

driver crashed, driver resets, me in the login screen...

then I really went bach to battlefield 4 which ran without any problems after the reinstall.

I guess the directX BF4 prob. was because all my driver changing in trying to get rid of this PoE crashs.

I will check forum for another week or two. But then PoE is R.I.P for me (really a pity).
Even if I can play for hours with a little luck, the crash is to frustrating to go on playing.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
Hey Slaine,

Hmm. It sounds like the issue has not been narrowed down much with the fixes you have tried. Can you please submit a DxDiag report?

Could you also try turning off overclocking on your GFX card and turning vsync back on?

"
map:
The Riverways

permanent Drop between 30 and 60 FPS

really starts to annoy me.

Do you have consistent fps spikes in any other areas? Do you remember the areas where you previously crashed and remember any consistencies?

Can you please specify this 'crash' further? Is this still 'An unexpected disconnection has occured' or has it escalated to a 'crash to desktop' or 'BSOD'?

You are also welcome to slowly work through the fixes in this thread That you have not yet tried. You may find something here that addresses your issue.

ok, the dxdiag is in the Spoiler.

The crash:
Every crash started with a freeze ingame. 1-2 seconds I see the freezing frame.
Then the nvidia driver resets itself due to the TDR technology. So I see the "no signal" of my monitor.
PoE managed NOT to crash to desktop during this, but I am back in the login-screen.

Maybe 2 times of 50 crashes the reset seems fast enough so that I stay ingame and PoE doesn't logged me off.

Areas/situations are random. I can't see any consistencies. Areas where the crash occured are played well on the next day/start. Massive fight situations run well. Then crashing with a single mob.
But all seem to be very very random.

Windows event manager says:
"
Der Anzeigetreiber "nvlddmkm" reagiert nicht mehr und wurde wiederhergestellt.

Translated:
Displaydriver do not respond and was resettet.
Event-ID: 4101
Classified as warning.

Never had a BSOD, never the system was crashed.

Happens two times after my fresh install.

My tries
I done all the things of the posted thread.

In addition to that I forbid ;) my girlfriend to surf with her PC to ensure it is no lag-spike problem.

I underclock my card. But nothing better.
My card is a factory OC card. I have not manually OCed it further.

I ensure the card does not go "sleeping". This was archived by turning vsync off.

I watched the monitoring of my system. via OC guru tool from gigabyte. vie taskmanager resource manager.

But I could not find any correlations.

GFX-card temps are not over 62° (when perma boost due to non-vsync) not over 58° without perma-boost.

But as I say I couldn't see any correlations.
It crashed when the card was at boost clock the same way it happens when the card was clocked down.

Playing battlefield 4 exclude a hardware/temp issue about 99,9% in my opinion.

btw: after the fresh install vsync was back on.

What I test today:
* nvidia driver setting -> energy-option set to -> max. performance
(read this as possible solution to the "nvlddmkm" message)
But I don't think this will help because without vsync there was no "energy-saving" possible and the crad was at max the whole time.

* deactivate my creative on-board sound and play without sound.
as i read many problems with creative drivers and PoE
If it shows that the creative is the problem, then I could buy a xonar :/

@ GGG
plz, inform me, if the dxdiag gives you any useful informations.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
the first try "energy-settings" to performance didn't help.

just got another driver-crash.
this time i got back into the game and could watch my character die. :/

was in ledge skeleton mob group, after entering ledge from submerged.
but as i said before, those crashes come so random, i do not believe the mobs, areas or skills have much to do with it.

now i will deactivate my creative onboard and give it the next try.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
Playing without sound (deactivated at all via BIOS) is no solution too.

Got another crash. used ledge again to reproduce.

So despite any problems with creative sound, my crashes are not related to those.

last thing that comes in mind is that my power supply is to low.
but I hardly could think of this.

It is a 650W enermax.

And all other games doesn't have this problem.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
I activated user-mode mini dumps.
But it seems that those driver-crashes doesn't count as application crash.

windows didn't create a minidump :/
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
I give up.

Tried another few times. Even with all settings low-as-F***
It keeps crashing.
No detailed log-Files not from windows, not from nvidia, not from poe.

So I could question my whole system.
RAM? power supply, CPU, GFX, Temps... etc.

But I am fed up.
Battlefield 4 again runs without a problem so i exclude severe hardware issues.

Something is brocken in PoE code.
A friend of mine has the same GFX-card without probs in PoE, thus it must be an exotic bug with my special combination.
but finding such bug without proper logfiles is a impossible mission.

let me hear if the dxdial gives you some informations.
...

really a pity.
played the closed and open beta before on my old hardware (already sold @ ebay :/)
and PoE made great progress...
unfortunately not for me.
excuse my english - i am from sauerkraut & bratwurst land ;)
hey there

I had this error message with a geforce 8800gtx a few years ago, turns out the card was slowly dying due to high temps (not the case with yours from what I see)

that card initially had problems only while running WoW (heavy load), magically went away later, only to resurface with crashes even while idling in windows

got a new one, haven't had problems since (I've upgraded gpu a couple times since then but cpu/mobo is the same) - if you still got a warranty I'd try to get it replaced, or even have a friend bring over another card to try it with your system, see if you get error messages with a different one if at all possible, your symptoms definitely sound like a hardware problem though
