Old school game clan/guild leader with questions
I recently started playing this game. I'm really liking it tremendously. I like the Diablo feel to it, being a veteran of that series since 1997. For any of you old school Diablo I players, my main character's name was Fusion_Reactor and in D2 I was also known as Fusion. I also had a summon necro which I would use to supervise Gubers very efficiently. If you were a regular Guber runner in D2 you might remember Mortimer_Wilson the summoner. There was a chic named Sha who would also run Gubers very well. You might remember her. She was the one who taught me. Anyway, you may have played with me or known me somehow. I'd love to hear from you if you have.
Ok time for questions. I've been leading highly successful guilds/clans since late 1997 in D1, D2, and WoW. I've checked out the guild system and I'm not extremely impressed with the controls. I've also noticed that guilds are not very popular in this game. Do you guys think this is because of the lack of better controls for guilds? I went ahead and bought a couple guild tabs, too, since I do plan on starting a guild, in this game, as soon as I learn the game and figured I'd fill a guild stash up really nice before I build the guild. Eventually I want to have at least 6 tabs in the guild stash and a total of 100 max characters roster. I'll probably add more if I'm getting success with 100. I'd probably go for 200 max next. My noob question is has a guild of 100 max characters ever been built? 200? Like I said, there seems to be a lack of guild making in this game. I'd like to find out why you think there is. I wonder if we can turn this post into some sort of suggestion box for the developers or something. It just seems a shame that there is a guild system in place but it's not being utilized fully. Guilds/Clans rock and I feel the players of this game would benefit more if there were more/bigger guilds. Just my two cents. Oh, I'm also looking for someone who has a pretty good knowledge of this game to help me learn it faster. I have Mumble. If you don't know what Mumble is, it's a free voice chat program that's fast and easy to download and set up. I can even help you if you have problems. You need a mic though. So, if there is a special person out there who has a microphone or headset, let me know. I'm new to the game, so I don't have much currency to pay out, but I can set you up with an Officer rank right off in my guild when I start it. Plus, as an extra bonus, I make a really good gaming friend. I promise I won't be making you hold my hand through dungeons or bugging the doo-doo out of you. |

Right now, a guild feels to brings nothing more than ... an additional chat and a stash tab or two to share goodies a bit faster.
And a guild tag displays, when you write someone (sometimes this really confuses me and the importance is questionable) It might improve in time - lets say with a guild vs. guild arenas or some "guild perks" as introduced in Cataclysm WoW. But until then, there is quite nothing to see. |

Well, can't answer for why they're not used more or what could be done to change that, but as for your other question, yes guilds that large have been made. The one I'm in pretty much hit the maximum number of members allowed(150 at the time if I remember right) immediately after guilds were added. Currently we're at 188 members.
Since you're the one saying you think guilds are a bit lacking, what do YOU think is missing or could be improved on? As for any other questions about the game you have, you can also post them on the Gameplay or class forums here. As long as you've made at least some effort to research and find answers yourself and not asked something you could easily have answered yourself, people will usually be very helpful around here. |

Well, I figured I'd try the forum out and get some opinions. I'm pretty hardcore at leading in RPGs. I want to try my hand at leading in this one, but I could use input from other players of what works, what doesn't, and what could improve a guild here. Once I've learned the game well enough and am ready, I want the guild to be the best it can be right out the gate. Thanks everyone for your posts. I hope I see a lot more here over time.

Problem with some guilds is they dont take into consideration that guilds are cross league and that if theyre about a 4 month league the guild has to disband because some will play new leagues or SC and HC and so on.

There are successful guilds in PoE, and yes, some of them have hit the limit of 250 members.
The game does need a few more guild controls, but I don't think that is a limiting factor in participation. Currently, you can't slid guild tabs around as you can personal tabs, so be sure to set them up (name and access level) the way you want to start out with. Wow, you're all so friendly and nice, unlike Blizzard players, who are mean and evil both on the forums and in the game. I'm going to like posting here. Glad to know there are some big guilds around already. That restored some faith for me. I had no idea the limit was 250. In WoW, it was 1000 and I kept it close to that consistently, so 250 shouldn't be a problem. How many guild stash tabs is the max? I can't find that anywhere on the net, on any Exile sites. In WoW, my guild had 8 but the items only took up once space each, so I hope there is a high tab limit. Anyway, thanks for helping, guys. I really want to get as much info as I can before I start up.
