which is sad really since they are better ways of inflating difficulty than just merely introducing oneshot/stunlock to death mechanics and allowing players a quick escape with altf4.
It is far more likely that players are allowed to alt-f4 as to respects of GGG not changing their design choice that increases the occurrence of desync in the game. You have to live with desync but you can alt-f4 as repayment.
alt-f4 would be an issue in pvp and so this the freedom given for other reasons will be limited in this instance.
I highly doubt GGG balances around instant log outs and the idea is rather insulting to the intelligence of GGG's staff members responsible for balance.
Alt+F4 was a design choice so that Chris and GGG could make more 'interesting' boss fights. This was one of the 'hardcore' tenants that lots of us argued about early in the game's life cycle. It is not because 'desync' exists. Alt+F4 purely exists because Chris could never envision an ARPG without the ability to Alt+F4.
