There can be very good reasons to balance the game around them. If from an economical perspective a small elite grants GGG the biggest profit then it makes sense to cater to these people exclusively in future development.
And from my perspective that is exactly what is happening with all the gated content and such.
The 99.9999% are just not profitable compared to the few pumping in a lot of money. Maybe you got to add a semi-small group of mid tier donators to that equation, but Joe Average certainly costs GGG more than they benefit from him, so why bother?

that does nothing but further encourage excessive rmt in a game where it is already out of control.

Looks like whatever boss drops those uniques is worth fighting. :)
And may the mods be ever in your favor.

So you are basically saying that the persons who donate a lot of money to GGG are exactly the same persons that will either play like crazy to farm or pay more money to buy via RMT?
You know how stupid that sounds? Like some crazy conspiracy theory.

Mechanics have been nerfed to make way for these items which are an RMT users wet dream.
Any proof for this causal relationship?
Or just more whining?
Game has changed. Game is harder now.
We lost lifeleech, manaleech, have to build trees with less damage and life because we have to factor in those changes, but that applies to us all.
Balance has shifted, machanics have changed, live with it.
There's no proof of course. It also wouldn't make much sense, why would GGG balace around items that literally 99,9999% of the players will never see? People should maybe realize that, before the patch, leech was trivial and OP. Put on a 2% leech ring and facetank everything as long as it doesn't oneshot you. Is leech balanced now? Dunno, it might be underpowered. But what I know is that the mechanic needed some changes. And that has nothing to do with those BiS uniques.
Trivial and OP hahaha... Do you even touch any maps over level 72?

That was not the direct relation I was trying to make. The successful streamers for example often have bought big supporter packages (from the money people donate to the streams) too and they make excellent advertising platforms.
Coincedentally streams that have high viewer counts are those by excellent/very addicted players. So those are the ones that actually get to the point where they break the gates of the high end content.
Btw it is not much of a conspiracy theory that someone who has enough money to buy big supporter packages also has enough money to buy the expensive stuff on the rmt sites, but again that was not what I meant here, since that would be an unfair statement towards the big supporters who play fair.
P.S.: I am not sure if I need to elaborate that this was not a moral statement of mine. I did not come to judge.
It is a very simple fact that companies as social systems aim for self-preservation as a primary goal. That will be achieved by any means necessary. It also is usually achieved by the most efficient means. If the best method to secure your company's wealth is by catering your product to a small, but rich elite, then this will be done. Other products are more tailored for big audiences with little money.
In the case of PoE I am not quite certain wether it is actual catering to the small elite or using the small elite as a catalysator to advertise to normal players through a role model kind of principle.

I beleive the uniques are FANTASTIC,both the properties and the art.The gloves look amazing. However,in this game THERE is acount bind.It happens with quest items/rewards.I really beleive that both map fragments AND these uniques should be considered quest rewards and be non tradeable.
Also for those that said that these gloves are the same as vall pact pre nerf.
1)Take a CI crit build.First issue-spending 15+ useless points to get to vaal pact.Second issue,well mana management.With these gloves,both issues resolved,plus 600+ armour + 6-8% increased ES,not bad at all.
2)Life based builds, especially bow ones, with kaoms.I can't even beging to say how these gloves can afect them.Never use voltaxic again, lots of armour, good life, the required intellligence for blue gems, and yeah, propably no blood magic gem.lol
Also it is not only the gloves. Can u imagine a better helmet for an aegis build?Especially a life based one.And the Axe,well with 5 support gems with +2level,+2 to weapon range and bleeding on hit,it would be at least on par for resolute technic builds with the mirror worthy ones.
GGG won't make account bound items because "The economy is the most important element of the game."

I just hope these become Bind on Account. Would give more meaning to reaching the end-game, as apposed to just buying it like one would a Voltaxic or Kaoms, and it would un-incentivize RMT'ing.

Blessed be thy ignorance. You might want to do some simple google searching to what the biggest games in the rmt business are. Hint: PoE ranks way higher than its player numbers would suggest.
