Did HC players get the shaft on the new leagues?

Invasion niche: Strongboxes that can roll affixes such as (2000% Increased rarity / 250% Increased item quantity / Gauranteed unique / Magic monsters etc..)
Ambush niche: Monster variety in zones / Occasional new bosses in zones. I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that the Ambush niche looks extremely fun and exciting. On the other hand we have Invasion which to be honest seems really boring in comparison. The monster variety part doesn't really add much fun or excitement to the game, and I'm sure will be more of nuisance than it is enjoyable (who wants to see random Devourer's popping up everywhere). As for the new occasional bosses we'll come across in Invasion, unless there is a good reward for killing them they will be skipped the majority of the time. If they simply drop normal boss loot or exile type loot they will most certainly all be skipped except for the easiest of the bosses. We don't know how much loot they will drop for sure but the one chris killed in this video http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/qmk3fm/path-of-exile-sacrifice-of-the-vaal-walkthrough dropped almost nothing. I feel like Ambush should have been the new HC league. I'm hoping they at least add a ton of rarity / quantity / increased item level to these new bosses to make them worth the risk. Anyone else have thoughts / feelings on this? |

maaaaaan, nobody cares about [Removed by Support] hardcore 1 death leagues....It's a freaking ARPG item hording game, not mario 1 which you can restart and finish it in 1 hour.

I think if they make the average boss drop loot comparable to to the average chest it should be OK. Obviously some chests will be better. Also I have a feeling a lot of players will spend a lot of currency (chaos) trying to roll that rarity.

I think it's proper the way they've done it:
For hardcore people who truly want a difficult/challenging game, they've added bosses in all the zones (and the couple they've shown look devastating), plus they've made every zone potentially much more deadly (all zones now must be wary of chaos damage, etc.) For casual players who don't mind if they die a bit, they've added an addictive (it seems), loot-focused chest system. I kinda felt that way when he was talking about it, even though I play SC leagues.
Onslaught was kind of lame too, but Anarchy wasn't much better after you'd already run into the exiles a few times. Then Nemesis seemed way more interesting than Dom to me. I didn't play nemesis, but the Dom shrines weren't all that special after you've seen them all. Don't have any personal experience with Nem, but I've seen some videos of crazy mod combinations that looked gnarly. Maybe they purposely switch focus back and forth between SC and HC? You get unique bosses in every zone which can drop quite a bit, and be very challenging..plus all the Vaal orb stuff and new areas....what more do you want?
As Chris said, the idea of hardcore is to last without dying..this makes it harder to live..and getting further will be harder than ever before and more fun. This is of course assuming you play hardcore for the fun and thrill of knowing you have one life. If you play hardcore because you wan't to be part of the "elite" crowd or want some advantage over other players, or alt+f4 every 5 min..then you might be disappointed. tldr; more bosses, harder, more fun. what more do you want? " The thing is those bosses will be skipped the majority of the time unless there is substantial reward. Like I said earlier I'm hoping they add a ton of rarity / quantity to them to equal the difficulty they present. Last edited by toneloc138#7686 on Feb 28, 2014, 9:26:26 PM
