Spell damage staffs?

It is very difficult to craft a good spell-staff to start with, but beating the uniques Searing Touch and Taryn's Shiver is even harder. There are very few out there, but they do exist (Example in this thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/781048).
The other trouble with the spell staffs is that they are rather niche. You have to either need 2 6L's or want to use Kaom's Heart. Otherwise, using one-hand + shield is probably better as well as easier to get. Doomed for Life

" Wow! Tayrn's is such a pain because it is essentially BiS if you want a 2H cold staff. The chance to Vaal +1% maximum resists on an amulet is less than 1/300.
