Dagger cast on crit - need advice

i'm trying out a build with CoC + raging spirit with elemental auras ad 70% aura effectiveness. I accidentally discovered that they do a shitload of dmg with wrath and anger, and CoC is the fastest way to summon them.
Also what will be the crit chance of dual wield vs single wield? I'm debating which route to go |

OK, after another day of playing and testing stuff, I completely changed my mind about chain and gmp. I reached the conclusion I just don't want them, lol :D
The logic behind it: both chain and gmp lower your EK dmg by 50%. I don't have a 6-link, I have a 5-link. So my options were either barrage + CoC + GMP (or Chain) + life leech + EK, or I could change GMP for a second set of EK. I tried it and the results were quite funny: without GMP barrage hits 4 times instead of 8 but it was proccing from two EK gems, not one, so the proc rate stayed the same. And, guess what, EK deals TWICE as much damage without chain or gmp. Another extremely sweet thing - without GMP or Chain (which are a 200% mana modifier), barrage costs 14 mana lol :D That allows me to keep a very low level clarity on blood magic and reduces the lost HP. Also, at lvl 63 I'm running with purity / grace / hatred on mana, low level clarity on blood magic and I have 19 mana left which is enough to spam barrage non-stop without any issues :D I don't know, maybe when you get a 6-link and become higher level with better items, things change. For now, I like the barrage - CoC - lifeleech - EK - EK setup a lot. Works great. You have to be realistic about these things.

I thought they changed it to not cast two of the same spell? Or do you mean it just rolls the chance to cast for each one, so it doubles your cast chance?

Yep, double roll :) edit: this is why I just cant understand why in most CoC builds I see on the forum people are nerfing their damage so much with gmp and chain. OK, if you level them high enough, the damage reduction isn't that big, but even if you have a 6-link, you can link a 3rd spell. So, if you already have barrage-coc-lifesteal+EK+EK, you can add a 3rd lightning spell which will shock the enemies and boost your damage even more. And EK with hatred freezes everything (particularly if you don't nerf its damage with chain or gmp lol), so you'll get a ton of physical damage + cold/freeze + shock. Sounds like profit. Puting 2 of te same spells is bad idea and outadated, nobody does it any more. Your second spell has a chance to trigger only if first one failed, which is bad. If your crit chance is low, like below 50% it's not THAT bad but if it+s like 85-90%, it's disastrous. Check this post;

" It's really personal preference. I group with my boyfriend and between the two of us we have every aura and permanent curses. I sat down and did the math one day. The extra procs from GMP and Chain adds more damage to my Fireball than adding more spells does. Subjective map clear speed seemed to match up with the math too. (Not sure about EK, since it has so many projectiles already. You don't have quite the same insane scaling.) Also Power Charge on Crit added more than any of the above. (The +250% from 5 charges takes me from ~70% to capped. That frees up a lot of passive skill points.) |
