This is currency based economy, this is currency based crafting system.

Not entirely true, the difference between bartering and currency based economies is that the currency has no intrinsic value, if one day everyone decided a currency was worthless it would be, but if one day everyone decided exalted orbs are worthless you would still be able to add an extra property to your items. It's bartering because the value of an orb is based on it's rarity and what it does, chance orbs are worth less than fusings but are rarer, for example. Also the dev comment on the bartering based economy was when dealing with vendors.

Sure, sure, but then again, nothing could stop you from lighting a cozy fire with bills or melt doubloons into pavement tiles.

Devs called orbs "currency", which they effectively are, in trading with vendors as well as with players. I think that we can agree, that majority of players hoard orbs for trading purposes and not for crafting. They are gold. You can replace them with gold and nothing would change. X gold would add affix to your item, and Y would roll number of sockets.

People who exchange items in this game are far and few between. We can not speak of barter based economy here. If they made orbs non tradable, so they can be only used for crafting, I would believe they were aiming for item bartering. This way, it is just an illusion, seven veils to mask the gold.
There was this thread before wich basically showed that a select "few" people are controlling the market by "selling or buying" ex's for higher or lower then current market value prices. Which kinda makes sense if all day long you see "people" buying or selling ex for 26c for example then its possible that you might think thats the current price only cuz its spammed in every trade channel but actually its not.

Wether its true or not idk.

the biggest flaw I find with your post is that you don't take into consideration 1 very important thing -> If player A has been trying to sell an exalted for 33-37 chaos, and player B is content with getting 25 because they want chaos to reroll maps or rares right away and don't want to wait to get the "proper" pricing, then players will drop their prices for faster trades.

As such when player A sees the dropped prices, as well as player C, D, E, so on and so on, they might say well ive been trying to sell this for an hour, I might as well just take 25 because I value my time more than a few chaos.

just wait till you come to standard and get 20:1 on a good day.

supply and demand

I think if anything, people should be pissed that you are selling your exalts for so much, ya know why? look at what an exalt orb does... its literally not worth 30+ chaos... its just not.

all those prices are player based, and the majority of noobs in POE use these websites with "currency ratio graphs" and that's how they price everything instead of it being a true trade / barter system.

so if you want someone to blame, blame these websites that post current " up to date " ratios, and all the losers looking at these sites every time they trade currency

There is one reason, and one reason alone why this is happening.

Domination is soon ending - So prices will come towards standard prices as league ends.

That is all, there is no scam here.

Funny thread, op clearly didnt undestand why the current ex chaos ratio has to be like that and why it will even drop a bit more

The currency system is like this, to allow this. Your suppose to be as stungy as you can to other humans, in order to get rich.

The one that really shits me, is the currency swap baffle attempt.
Example: You'll agree to sell a pare of pants for 5 chaos. Then they hand you 7 Alc. (On a day when you can't sell 3 alc for a chaos)
Followed by a lovely bit of abuse from the player "Your a noob, you have no idea about how the economy works in this game."

(My personal fav was I tried to help out a guy, he'd been begging general chat for Port Scrolls for about 45mins. I said I'd do 100x for a Fus or 220x for a Chaos. He wanted 290 for a alc. I'm like no thanks, was just trying to help/be nice. He went on to say, I'd never get a g/f, or have sex, or get a good job, or live in a nice house. That I'd die young from diabetes and being too fat. - The best bit, it wasn't because I didn't accept his trade offer, it was because, I didn't understand how evasion worked as mitigation vs armor in level 77 maps.)

bought this for 2 ex

and 20 chaos are an ex in standard, dont know what strange shits going on in domination but standard is fine

Some crazy people were selling exalteds for 40+ chaos over a month ago, and even crazier people paid those prices.
Now, as the league reaches its end, the rates are getting closer to those of the standard league, and many people are trying to get rid of their exalteds to make some profit by selling the for 23-25 (current price), knowing they'll be able to buy them back for 20 once they're transfered to standard.

If anyone's being ripped off, that would be the ones paying over 20 for an exalted.

If i would have ex on domination i would try to sell them for most chaos possible before it comes to standard and goes for the standard prices which are between 20-22 chaos i think

It's already been said, but exalts are gonna be worth a lot less once everything shifts to standard. Domination, being temporary and all, is about to FLOOD the standard market with items and currency, so the mad push to dump exalts for 25-30c is still more profitable than holding on to them. The last time I discussed the effects of the league shift economically, exalted orbs were still going for 35-37c. I said THEN your best bet was to sell for chaos orbs as they would drastically drop in value. It's obvious to players that trade at our level that exalts are a bad investment at the tail end of the league, as NO ONE is going to buy exalts in standard at domination rates. Simple as that.
