Sceptre of God 3D model [In need high-res art]

why dont you rip that model from game? it is low poly, but you can make simple to a high poly

End for today

*exhausted*
ekhem bump :*
First: i'm not a 3d professional or something, i just use 3d max as a hobby.
Second: i opened blender a few years ago and then i hit the uninstall button.

Now, from your wires+render i see a few things:

- either blender is really hard to work with or you have close to nothing experience with.
Your result can be accomplished in cca. 5-10 mins in 3d max cause it's really just extrude->select vertices->make planar->extrude (and a bit of select polygons->bridge for the columns)
- judging by the time it took you to get this result and the complexity of the model you want to end up with,i'd say you need at least 2-3 months of very hard work.
- the fact that you have no reference images makes the time to completion even greater. Send a nice mail and ask a dev for some artwork
- another posted suggested to use zbrush (or sculptris if you are less experienced plus that it's free)but other than the broken stone here and there, i see no other use for it
- from the look of your last wire (compared with the original artwork), you got the scale wrong, yours is way too tall and thin.
- your topology seems too heavy, you have way too many edges there that help with nothing ( a plane will be the same formed with 4 2d lines or with 40 2d lines (most of your horizontal lines and some vertical ones)). The trick is to go low in the beginning, complete it low poly and after that start adding topology.
- it's symmetric: model 1/2 from it and add a symmetry modifier (saves a lot of time). Also, the floors are the same, model one and just copy-paste-attach and after that you come in with detailing.
- to model the floors, model just 2 columns and after that copy-rotate and attach them together till you get a full circle (start with a cylinder to get it right, delete everything except what is needed for the 2 columns and start modelling)
- the entrance is too small in your wire ( as it extends way more in the artwork)

I hope you won't be pissed or something about my critique,my point is that maybe you learn something. Also, if you haven't done some other big project, this is not the one to start with, you have no references (1 does not count, it's almost like having some sort of idea in your head).

And now, get back to work and prove me wrong in all that i've said :)

Edited: typos and stuff

As a 3D student, i totaly agree with the above.
As I said Im completely noob in 3D.
Reference come's mostly from my side, because I'm doing renovated version of it.
When I will complete this model in blender I will have to redo it in 3DsMax, because the topology is that bad, that it will be impossible to make textures for it.
You can ask, why Im not doing it in 3DsMax already. Well, I'm better with blender right now, but 3DsMax is necessary and I do know that.

TL;DR
IM BAD!
WILL TAKE YEAR. :)

PS. I took 5 hours (or you can say one night)
I'll probably finish this in blender, then I'll start doing smaller models in 3Ds, then I'll redo it with textures.

I really respect Your answer. I just brought me down, so I do know, that there is a lot of work ahead of me.

PS.2: GGG_Qarl doesnt responds.

I don't do anything against rules, do I?

From my experience, i can tell you that doing it first in blender and afterwards in Max will be a real pain in the ass. The interface is completely different and, while in blender you know by heart how to do a simple thing, in Max you'll have a lot of trouble.Switching between packages can be made after one fully comprehends the first soft.

The thing is like this: you are at the beginning,if you are not sure about using blender, try all the 3D application that you can get your hands on and choose the one that feels most confortable to you. The difference between them becomes obvious at a higher level,at this stage they do very much the same.

Modelling clean or damaged have both their ups and downs. Ex: it is easier to skip the broken stone in the artwork and model a clean one but it is easier to hide the lack of details with a dark atmosphere/storm than in a pose in clear daylight.

I just realised that maybe they don't have artwork with the tower....i mean, what should they use it for? It's not like you walk your character and see from a distance the tower, hence, no tower modell. What i#m sure they do have, is the layout for the floors, a thing that they won't give you, because having the layouts means that you'll probably find the stairs to the next level way faster. Hence the lack of response from Qarl. Also i'm not sure that would help you cause the floors don't really seem to fit the artwork.

I like your ambition and i must say that it's good that you don't want as a first project a realistic human face.
It does not matter how long it will take you, as long asa youu like it, keep doing it and one day you#ll be amazed with the things you can do.

Forgive grammar and typos,I'm at work :)

Just take the other guy's answer as good advice. As you said, it's something you want to learn, and you've picked a project based on something you like, as people tend to do. It doesn't matter how long it takes, or even if it turns out all that well, as long as you learn something and enjoy it.

I am not able to see the models which you have created, please share the link for post it in here so that i can also take a look at it.
