Very cool project sir, keep it up. It's quite a challenge you put before yourself.
+1 Gl & hf hope it looks great when finished :). Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I've always wanted to try 3d modeling, it looks awesome. Good luck!

Try PM Qarl or Joel - They are the level designer's so would have access to high-res art aswell as advice :)

wow, big project, good luck!
I wasn't impressed by Blender but didn't spend much time with it, don't really know what you can archieve with that. Anyway, did you notice the map of Sarn from act3? There's a small but pretty useful pict of the tower.

Blender is a good tool, it has improved alot with the newer builds. I still use the old v2.49 Blender with it's stoneage interface I'm familiar with but the new, completely changed GUI of the recent versions is much much better for beginners. Hoewever, you have to learn basicly from 0 because they basicly changed everything, including hotkeys. ^^"
The Sceptre is a great project, I also was inspired by the Website Artwork but I thought more about an decent build in Minecraft. :D A 3D Model would be great, especialy if you later have access to a 3D Printer. ;) |

I remember a full-sized picture of it that was much sharper, like the background of the website. Can't find it anymore though. Looking at the shape of the structure I think it's best to make a base model in 3ds Max (or Blender which I see you're using) then sculpt the more organic shapes in ZBrush. A base mesh is a low-poly representation of the model which is then subdivided multiple times to achieve a multi million polygon mesh ready for sculpting. I'm not sure what they call subdivision in Blender, but in Max we use Turbosmooth / Meshsmooth. You should look into it, you're gonna need it for those small details! If you really wanna take it a step further, grab a game engine (check out UDK) and import the low poly meshes into there, you could create much more impressive shots as UDK (Unreal Engine 3) has global illumination lighting. And of course it being a game engine means you can interact with it fully.
Great idea btw, it's a really cool model, might consider trying it myself. GL! vaal or no balls Last edited by QueenTakesKnight#2764 on Jan 19, 2014, 7:16:26 PM

Thanks for the feedback guys! I really apreciate it!
Well, I made model and then had a look at the A3 map. I need to redo it completely, because I thought, that base is square and upper part is round, but whole tower is round. Here comes sad part: I started mapping. Played 12hours in 2 days (thats sick for me) But I want to keep playing. Lol. And there is a art contest. If I would have won it, then I could buy i5 CPU (currently Dual Core Pentium). Ahh, nearly forgot. I have started a driving course :D I will do some drawings today to plan modelling part. |

cut down playing time, everything else seems to be more rewarding/fun ;)
