What does "detonating mines instant" mean really?

I just raced to this keystone thinking my mine would detonate instantly upon being dropped. Clearing up the language on this keystone would be extremely helpful.

It's not.

"Detonating mines is instant."

The keyword is detonating, not placing. Detonating is the separate action taken after you place it. Detonating has a cast time. Therefor, if detonating is instant, there is no cast time.
OP's grammar is bad. Arguing it with him is futile because he lacks the ability to understand such simple English.

from my test few weeks ago..when i click detonate button, it skip the 0.5second casting animation. mines active right away

its useful for freezemine if u make trapper with extended skill effect duration passive and bigger aoe gem and "chill enemy after freeze duration" passive

but that will eat lots skill points... i feel it might works better for ice witch or ice templar

It's not a different answer. You cannot cast one skill, even if it's instant, while using another skill or moving.
It means you still have to stop running, and it will interrupt other actions. Such a misleading notable. It saves 0.5 of a second but does nothing to make using mines any less clunky.

You forgot to complain about having to stop running to do just about anything. Maybe GGG should make players stand still to drink a flask.
