Why is the inventory so horribly small?

What's the logic in having the inventory as small as it is? I don't have having to make trips back to town every 5 minutes to sell junk... Especially when things like a long sword take up 8 slots... realistic maybe but this is just annoying.

Stop picking up junk?

You have to learn to prioritize items. The lowest item would be mundane non-superior items, next would be magic items, after that its split between superior items (mundane or otherwise) and rares, and finally ends with unique.

Believe me, superior items are very valuable because of armorer scraps and whetstones.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

You're not supposed to pick up every piece of loot that drops to vendor it. Break that habit now, you're just wasting time and TP scrolls.

The logic of a small inventory is that inventory management is part of the game. The fact that you're making such frequent trips to town for such little reward is a sign that you're managing that part of the game incorrectly. This aspect of gameplay is crucial to endgame balance, since limited inventory space is key to how Maps work.

Many things are tied directly to sustaining a healthy economy. Endless bags of holding arent one of them.

Your comment got me thinking. So superior items should be upgraded all the way to +20% then upgraded to magic or rare status then? Is that why we should be saving superior items? Crap... I've been vendoring them.
Usually when I find superior weapons or armors, I put them in my stash and wait until I have a combined 40%. Then I vendor them to get blacksmith whetstones or armourer scraps.

I generally don't pickup whites unless they have lots of sockets. If they are rings or amulets or flasks, I'll pick them up because I can vendor for identify fragments while only taking up a portion of my inventory compared to to big staves or bows.

To my understanding, thats the best way to create the best gear in the game.

Thats whats nice about PoE: Its not about finding the best gear; its about making the best gear. Getting it 20% superior before turning it magic or rare (preferrably rare or unique with orbs of chance) is a good start. You still have to get it socketed perfectly including linked perfectly.
