how do you respec
"agreed fyull respec kills replayability |

Having no respec also punishes those who are new to the game, and do not read up on optimal builds.
I could play just for fun, make a character, spec him how i want. But then once i am at endgame, suddenly my character is not up-to-par with others, because i did not min/max my passives. Now i have a character ive invested many hours into, but he has a very messed up passive tree, and it will cost me a small fortune to respec him. So what, i need to make a whole new character, and copy some cookie cutter build to stay on top of the endgame? Do you define replayability as forcing players to make a new character in the event they mess up their build in an unchangeable way? Maybe its just me, but i do not want to spend hours browsing a forum, making sure i do not make some fatal mistake in picking my passives, before ive even had a chance to play the game. This is coming from someone who has not played the game yet, so i could very well be wrong about most of the stuff im saying. But this is the impression ive got just from browsing these forums whilst downloading the game. |

" I was also new in the past and I wasn't punished at all. I just created a new character after another, after another... If you don't want to research first, just play the game and eventually you will succeed. I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

But you were punished. You created a character, leveled it up, only to find out you need to do the whole process again in order to put out respectable DPS.
This is especially true in a game like this with such a massive passive tree and so many stats. Along with the fact people are coming up with new and interesting builds every day. To deny players an efficient respec system in this kind of game, it seems counter-intuitive. I mean, i am still going to play the game and try this system out for myself. But from my current perspective, it seems like the "replayability" is actually just "you made a mistake, so level a new character to level cap". |

" That´s nonsense, seriously. First, you don´t need any optimal build but a viable one, which anyone should be able to come up with if his brain has at least any functionality which leads me to second, no respec only punishes people who got maxed out learning-resistance, immunity to anticipation and took the keystone "Stupefy! Always click, never use brain." regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!

The whole game is all about leveling up multiple characters.

not sure why anyone would need/want respecs, at least more than the NPCs give you....this game is easy, not sure how you screw it up more than that.

'The game punishes you' is an overused statement, games are meant to be challenging if there is no consequence for your action there's no challenge.

If you feel like playing the game is a punishment you are obviously not having fun so why play at all? With the random zones and build diversity it's like a new experience every time you play through the game. And seriously maps (end-game) isn't like a magical wonderland that's any less repetitive than playing through the game with new characters over and over, it's just a bit more random about what mobs you'll face.
I'm currently having fun grinding maps with my second character (the first sucks I don't like him any more) but thinking about making a 3rd character just for a change of pace/variation. |
