There is fishing in Torchlight. You even can catch pretty useful items there.
Do you think that POE can't use the idea?

Since we don't have a pet (useful at least) in POE, there will be different types of fish, or even items and currency.
I mean, some people still don't believe in fishing, yet there is another arpg where fishing exists.

Well no, because there aren't any cows in PoE, but there are fishing rods, and there is a fisherman npc. Don't be throwing words like "silly" around, think how you'll feel when people start posting legit fish.
