Advancement WITHOUT trading?
I can get to 70 maps easily enough without trading on most characters. Of course, there is some RNG luck in there. After that, it becomes a bit more difficult without trading to get upgrades.

I played a decent amount when the new league started Nemesis.
I pretty much stop playing because I feel there is no point after 75-80 recently. I thought the release version would make the game funner; that I can play without much trading. I was wrong, you'll be lucky to find anything decent unless you invest days on end or get extremely lucky. After all range is range. To sum it up, I've spent tons of time trading and overall life-span of two characters for one 5 linked item, which by the way is just a regular unique Quillrain bow. (Low level) I've found 0 GG items up to 77(2x char). I've found 0 Ex up to 77(2x char). I've spent about 100 fusing through trading for 0 5 linked items (self made)(2x char). I've spent about 100 socket gem for 0 6 socket item(2x char). The end game is extremely tedious, it doesn't feel rewarding enough to repeat. Everything is still centered around trading even though GGG stated different. Boss farming is tedious, you can get rares or perhaps unique if you juice up your magic find, but to get the adequate magic find, you once again need to "Trade" or get extremely lucky. [This is my experience from hardcore] The game is fun as a fresh start, clean economy, but once you hit about level 75-80 it becomes really boring while watching all the bots get rich, and richer from players. |

There needs to be a better way to trade in this game.
Not an Auction House but rather a Merchant House or something. You can search for items from online members only. Must phyically trade with them. Offline items are still visible but obviously nothing can happen. "Man, it's like we're fighting housewives and their equipment." - Millennium

There is no limit as to how far you can progress without trading, solo.
However, it is much easier if you do trade and group. Especially the first playthrough. With that said, it seems like your highest character is level 23. At this level, trading is really not important. You can come by with self found items just fine. The difficulty only starts kicking in after you leave city of sarn merciless in my opinion. | |
The game is quite difficult for most players in Cruel on their first characters. People saying that it's not have simply forgotten what it was like before they knew what they were doing.

" ....er.... no. I"m not trying to do trading NOW, at my current level. The reason I brought this up was, when looking further into the game (seeing what later parts were going to be like), this issue was something I was seeing many times, when watching others play at high levels or whatever (on Youtube or streams or whatever). Knowing how the trading in this actually WORKED though... and knowing full damn well that I would NOT want to do it this way... I decided to completely halt progression until I'd learned more about this, which is why I now made this topic. Better to get some info and figure it out NOW, than to progress hours more into the game only to suddenly crash into the issue, making those added hours pointless. I've been burned by problems like this in games more than a few times, so this time, I figured I'd not let that happen and look into it BEFORE it reaches that point. As for the difficulty bit, yes, I know. I'm a fan of difficult games, and I mean the *really* nasty ones. I've no issues with that at all.... but I also know what difficulty actually IS. Trading =/= difficulty, regardless of it's method. In this game, it's JUST time consuming. Similar to grinding, which also has zero difficulty, but is merely repetetive and takes a long time. " You misunderstand me. It's not the idea of trade that bothers me. I play alot of MMOs, and games like this, and whatnot, and I actually tend to do alot of trading. What bothers me is the bloody stupid way it's handled here. ....no, perhaps "archaic" is a better term. I look at something like.... hm, what's a simple example... ok, Everquest 2. If I want to trade something, I can go into the game's market system (or whatever it's called). In there, if I want to buy something, I can easily search for it, bringing up a list of everyone selling it currently, as well as a list of prices, allowing me to make comparisons, and I can also get tons of info on the item itself so I make sure I'm not missing something, and some games also allow you to see what recent price trends for completed trades have been with a given item, helping you to make sure you're not getting ripped off. When I find something I want to buy.... I just outright buy it, right then and there. I get the item. The seller gets the credits/coins/whatever. There's no chances for one player to screw over the other or cheat them out somehow, and this entire process is done in a way that makes it quick and easy, where it's not about time spent or scheduling meet times, but is instead about decisions made and nothing more. And the same goes for if I want to offer something for sale; it's easy to do, I can look around and see what the price trends are very easily, and so on, all done in a well-made interface. And none of that real-money crap obviously, and usually not EVERY item is tradeable of course, though that depends on the game. That sort of thing is done in ALOT of online games these days (as in, most of them), and for good reason. But HERE, it's reduced to screaming "WTS SOMETHING OR OTHER" over and over like in the ancient days of early MMOs, and so on. After playing so very many games that do it RIGHT, it's damn near painful to crash into this old issue yet again here, in this game that really does seem to do pretty much everything else correctly. So, I seek info on it. With many people saying that it's doable with self-found items (which is fine by me), I may well keep going with it from here and see what happens. |

" And you you've done this how many times ? without trading, without riding on a partys back,no twinking (no shared stash). Post history shows trade activity, what are others to assume ? Enchu, just do yourself a favor and trade, not trading will only bring disappointment if you're already asking about trading. Last edited by Temper#7820 on Dec 22, 2013, 8:32:42 PM
