Is DESYNC - really - that much of a problem? Really?
" What majority? I said that merely 1% of the skills are desync-heavy, that is very far from a majority, at least in my math classes. And those all around the world. And shift-clicking your abilities is actually a thing "the game offers", so I don't see what or which you are actually disregarding. As far as checking if monsters are acting weird that's called being observant. I would actually be calling it regarding what the game offers, as opposed to disregarding. Seriously... I don't even see the point of your post. Usually you write much better posts mr.charan, they're on point and usually aren't whining posts. " Indeed you are just suggesting stuff.Sorry if I came off as harsh or something. I've adapted and overcome (4 years and 5-6 deaths) and you know what,my point still stands,it's poor gameplay for the ARPG mini game. |

Well I just had my first Desync death and, let me tell you, my head hurts.
It was on a Dunes map and I go in and take on a few of those rare giant bone monster thingies. My health dips down a bit so I go to Leap Slam away. I leap away and then it desyncs and I get pulled right back into the group and die. This happens 4 times. So I went into the map with 24% and came out with 14% after clearing it, teeth grinding. Normally it's fine for me but, take those huge spike damage mobs or DoT clouds from the boss, and things just get really frustrating. Luckily this character is only 68 so the loss comes more from losing a nicely rolled map + currency than from the exp... IGN: Caessa_Undying - 4 FPS Immersive Rain 4 Lyfe!

" To tackle this from a different direction... Sure we can incorporate our builds and playstyle to accommodate for desync. In fact, I'd imagine just about every character that does end-game content without being XP-gated has already done so. You know what the end result is? Auto-pilot builds. It's about setting up your character so 99% of the content is so easy you only require a pulse to clear it. In other words, the most successful builds in this Action RPG are the ones that take out the Action element. That's fine if all you want to do is play a trade economy simulator + autopilot character builder, but for those of us who joined this game expecting an action RPG, desyc is the cornerstone on which just about every other complaint is built upon. " This is what the issue is I am in the process of levelling up a shadow, and I have died 3 times today purely due to desync (whirling blades). Of course there are well documented methods to deal with desync, but that just forces everyone to play stand your ground characters and 6L your skills so you can, just as the guy I have been quoted has said, be able to play in autopilot The most successful builds are the ones that are the most boring in PoE, and that is happening largely due to desync |

"It's also why the game is constantly losing players rather than gaining players. I'd call that a problem. Is there another gaming company that even has the balls to offer 15,000 dollar support packs? I mean seriously! Life is always stranger than fiction. Poor tileset design plays a big part in this.
When skills like cyclone are buggy to begin with, adding junk design tilesets, like in the arcade map for example, just make it worse. There's just shit everywhere on the ground, in what should be open areas. Monster pathing and cyclone targetting combined just make this a pain in the ass to play. We don't need junk everywhere on the ground, that just exacerbates a known issue, when it adds nothing to the gameplay experience. It's just like the particle effects. We need rain in the Dominus bossfight/docks/etc more than we need a playable game. Nice call GGG. Fuck the rain effects, fuck the banners blowing in the wind (fuck Biggie, fuck Bad Boy, etc). Let me disable this shit so I can actually have a fair fight against your "end" boss. I don't even bother fighting merc dominus on any character, I know the result before it happens. Fps drops to 3, or screen freezes entirely, fun game. Many lewt.
Much desync. Such rewarding. Wow. According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew? |

" I agree on the rain. I think the biggest perps for Desync are accuracy checks, stuns, and collision with mobs. 2 of the 3 I say we get rid of. IGN: Caessa_Undying - 4 FPS Immersive Rain 4 Lyfe!

" I know from experience, equipping Eye of Chayula (or taking US passive) and Dream Fragments (or Alpha's Howl) reduces desync by a huge amount. I emailed GGG with a detailed explanation of how they force gear selection on certain characters due to this, and this may have been (pretty sure it was) the mail convo that resulted in Chris replying himself, I'd have to check to confirm this though. Stun/freeze mechanics, cluttered tilesets (fucks monster pathing if you do something crazy like move during a fight) and movement skills are responsible for the majority of desync issues. Accuraccy/hit checks, fine. They are a contributing factor to desync, but this is a design choice. It will not be changed, nor do I think it should. Many lewt.

Not on SC, a problem in HC. I bet you can make it to lvl 100 in SC with maybe a couple deaths to desync on average character. Is a set back, but you can live with it. The problem in HC though is that you cannot die, so even once is bad.
Desync is a problem depending a lot on your build thought, the kind of maps you run, etc. so it can be minimized. But unfortunately it limits the builds and style of your gameplay (if you are too bothered by death). As a HC player (so far), it's an issue because those things (and I lost a few characters to desync, although it has been a while, since Onslaught). |
