I mentioned this in another thread:
I like their reasoning, too. I always wrinkle my nose when people say a game is good only because it's free, or that the price has any inherit impact on the quality. For me, and probably for others too, the real investment isn't the money I spend on games, but the time I spend on playing them. I wouldn't sink 100s of hours in a game only because it cost $50, or only because it's free, if I didn't enjoy it, because time is valuable and I want fun and entertainment in return. PoE gives me that. I'm glad the Gamepot editor recognized that. A well-deserved triumph for GGG! | |

But - I believe that - Path of Exile only deserved to be nominated and is in no way better than at least a couple of the other titles. A game with huge gameplay flaws should never win a GOTY-award.

I was surprised. I am also surprised by how much hate are in the comments on the GOTY page. Gamers are always so bitter.

"Tell me about a perfect flawless game. Never encountered any. Played Black Flag last week, got glitched stuck between 2 rocks. I got to restart reload the game for that. From the gaming aspects to the customer care, passing through the on-going relationship with your player base, continuous updates and general honesty when dealing with everything, you guys have a very tight, professional and functional operation. Its refreshing and even a little touching to see your efforts, which are laced with love rather than greedy, bearing such well deserved fruits. It makes the world a more beautiful place to be. |
