New pet videos on youtube
Ugly pets are ugly. Hopefully the alternate spell animations wont be so horrendous.

" We don't need to buy it. Kinda disappointed by this too but I guess it makes sense to do what they did, If it was a one-time purchase they make less profits, but like I said we don't need it. |

" I actually agree with this somewhat, though you don't need to be nasty about it. It's more the process/consequences that I find awkward than the cost itself though it's certainly the cost that causes the awkwardness in this case. When you put effects on an item and find an upgrade, you now have to weigh that upgrade against the cost of transferring the effect as well as the item's stats. So you either keep your cool but inferior item, upgrade but lose your effect, or upgrade and transfer your effect. Doing this numerous times as you level seems.. uncomfortable. Especially if you want that effect on multiple characters. It's kinda like the argument against set items (upgrading one breaks the set). Or like having to pay to reclaim your pet before you put another one out. I suspect that many people simply won't put effects on anything but an endgame item or a unique that they expect to keep for a long time, though perhaps that's the intent. I don't think that's bad, necessarily, but I do think it takes away from the store item's potential. Perhaps the awkwardness will make it more exclusive and thereby more special/rare.. I dunno. What if the effect costs were raised from whatever they are, perhaps substantially, (to absorb the cost of a reasonable number of reclaims) but allow them to be applied/removed at will? Or perhaps both options coexisting? That said, it's just cosmetic.. so no big deal in the end. And perhaps being able to reclaim them at all should be considered a bonus. I did assume that cosmetic effects were going to be account-bound rather than item-bound though. /shrug |

Yeah I was expecting the cosmetics to be kinda like gems, that you can swap around so you can see what they look like...

I do agree on the weapon cosmetic mechanics... That's a little extreme. Ah well.

I like the pets they all look quite nice.
Though I'd be more tempted to buy one if it has some kind of idle animation now and then, eg. lizard snapping a fly with his tongue. |

I'm happy with some cosmetics being very expensive, but I hope GGG don't forget about the "micro" in "microtransactions". The $1-$3 impulse buy is a HUGE factor in the success of many F2P and iOS games and there should be options to cater to those players.

" i'm pretty sure they do. take a look at the Frog videos. at the end when the camera is orbiting the little fellow rubs his nose with his front leg. awww. hopefully he also nabs flies with his tongue when you go past piles of rotting corpses. Last edited by ualac#0162 on Jan 23, 2013, 5:43:38 AM

I must say, that I too feel a little uncomfortable about the "pay to remove" part of it. That only makes wait for my endgame gear to buy cosmetics. I want to be able to try it out, does this look cool? yes? no? - now I have to be careful.
It will only result in me buying less. Danskere: PM mig, hvis I har brug for en guild. Last edited by ongZ#0545 on Jan 23, 2013, 5:46:18 AM
