Diablo 3. A look back at the old trailer.....
I agree with the assessment of many others: The RMAH subverted D3 into a pay-to-win exercise in gear acquisition.

The removal of everything was to stream line the gaming experience, this is what they did in World of Warcraft. It works there, because there it has a very deep end game (new raids all the time, competitive pvp, etc.) So even though the game has seen a lot of changes made to make the game easier or more stream lined (for example, looking for group system) you still find reasons to want to keep playing.
Back to Diablo 3, by making the game super-easy, they forgot to give players a reason to keep playing the game. Diablo 3 has to be one of the most simplistic RPGS I have ever played, even Final Fantasy 1 for my old NES has more in-depth gameplay. The combat in D3 is fun sure, but it is not rewarding because it is not hard. Everything is just a gear check, killing too slowly? get better gear. Dying too often? get better gear. Oh, and that "better gear" is exactly the same as what you already have, just with higher numbers. Wouldn't want to confuse players with choices! Diablo 3 is so unrewarding. I played a lot over this past weekend, god only knows why I keep coming back to the game. I put in 10+ hours over the weekend, guess how many upgrades I found? 0. All I found were a few items which sold for a very small amount, gold which I amass to buy an item slightly better than what I already have, fun. 70% of the things that hit the floor are not worth picking up, the items you do pickup are instantly salvaged or vendored 95% of the time. The odd few items you find that are worth something rot on the AH for days until you salvage those too. Diablo 3 pisses me off. I have no idea how a company can screw up a beloved franchise so much. They took everything out that made Diablo 2 good. I have no faith the game will better either, the patches we have had do nothing to improve the game. f-u Blizzard and the horse you rode in on. I hope the sales from expansion tank and they learn a valuable lesson when discussing Diablo 4. |

How do you think people are going to feel who have been watching the build of the week vids & are hyped to test them only to find that they no longer exist in the current patch...will people be justified in spitting the dummy knowing that the game changed between beta & launch?

" Maybe you should PM Chris and suggest that he edits into something like: Note: Since patch (something) this no longer works or something like that. Just add some text in those old videos or something. |

" No need to take it out on the horse. They did that in d3, and we all know how that turned out. Rainbows are not for the faint of heart. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

to think i was in a line at midnight for this game, and then won 2 random prizes in store out of 100 people and i came 5 minutes before the sale started.
i am certainly furious... no wait... nvm. i played the game for 200+ hours, i think the game was worth the money, just not the legacy of Diablo 2, i hoped and thought it was. maybe sometime in the future, we will see D3 team redeem themselves, but i doubt it. I play games... shocked, i know.
