Blizzard's essentially 'streamlined' the gameplay, making various alterations, additions, and such so that you just start going out and begin the demon onslaught:
1. Stats are automatically implemented, and there are now just 3 stats to work charms with.
2. Early on you obtain items called the Cauldron of Jordan, the Recall Stone, and the Nephillim Cube. They essentially quicken downtime with item hoarding and collection: the Cauldron is used to 'sell' any item you wish, turning it into pure Gold currency. The Nephillim Cube can break down items into craftable materials. The Recall Stone acts as a perma-use Town Portal with a 10 second channelling.
These items are meant to keep you going through with minimal item management, and easier access back to towns.
3. There are no longer Skill Points. Skill slots and skills/passives themselves are obtained through leveling up, so respecs are completely removed out of the equation.
You'll be able to switch out skills/passives at any time, along with their Runestones so that you can adapt to situations.

These are just some observations as I've gathered information... Now, I will partake in Diablo 3 (and attempt to get a monetary return on the game through the RM Auction House ;3 ), but I won't neglect other hack'n'slasher RPG's; Path of Exile and Torchlight 2 will still get tons of love!
Sounds like they made a completely different game. I think the whole auto-stats and no skill points in a sense drives me away from the game.
(Maybe I'll wait for a mod of it to finish even)
I dont think they are adding mods to Diablo 3. I cant remember where I heard about it.

Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, and Path of Exile. I want to play them all, but this is a very time consuming genre. I'll have to wait until I play them to decide which in is worth my time the most.
Diablo 3 has a beta upcoming, so I'll get to try that out free. Path of Exile is free, so no problem there. I don't know if Torchlight 2 is having a beta at all, but it looks pretty good from the videos.

I'm waiting for PoE, but I will likely choose Diablo 3 over PoE. I don't know yet, we'll see. I'll probably just play them both when it comes to it.

even thought i didnt tried PoE yet ,, id say why not both? , im shure there gonna be some obvious difference between these two games and considering ill probly play PoE first im almost 100% shure ill like it alot and be kinda dependent to it haha sooo yeh! id say play both at the same time then youll know what hardcore hacknslashin is =D

Why do so many people act as if you can only choose one? I will play both.
The changes made to D3 surprise me. It seems the took a lot of the things i liked about D2 out of the game. But i dont know what D3 will be like. It might be awesome. I will try it and see.
I will also play PoE. It looks like it will have a lot of things i liked about D2, plus some new features that are intriguing to me.

I'll definitely test Diablo 3, becouse its Diablo and when you have played the 1st and 2nd you need to know more lorebase!
So far with current answers, faq's and videos from both games and gameplay i have higher promises for Path of Exile.
Future tells the rest whatever happens i want PoE to be better!
What happens atleast once in 60 minutes?
