What is the best of the Voice Chat Options

I would go with TeamSpeak 3, it offers quite alot of features (i laughed at the possibilitiy to arrange peoples voices around you if you have surround sound) and doesn't eat up ressources.

It often seems that those options are more a regional preference. Just use what you feel comfortable with.

Skype is only good for 1-1 calls since the call maker acts as a server. so basicaly all voice actions go to the call originator then to the others creating delay and lag.

Ventrilo is garbage now use to be good but it's sound quality is junk compared to the others now, however it is the cheapest.

Teamspeak Is the most used it has decent sound quality and very good admin settings also has alot of security setting.

Mummbles is probley the best ATM in sound quality and has support for directional voice ( when some 1 yells " im over hear " in battelfield u hear it comeing from whare they are in game ) also has excelent overlays. Admin options are a pain to learn however. also security settings are a pain to set up but easy to use once they are in place.

I use all of them so and have a 150 man teamspeak server and a unlimited mummbles. For playing with a small group of friends i recomend teamspeak. For setting up coms for a large guild, clan , corporation ( whatever u want to call it ) mummbles is best dew to the secutity options.
Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.
Thank you one and all for the great feedback
I'm BACK :)
Vent is my favorite, I've used it with RuneScape, WoW, and Counter Strike without problem.

The guild i'm in have used teamspeak for a few years now and it works great for what we need it for.

We have a max user count of 25 with overflow slots if they are needed. But if you are needing more user slots than this then mumble may be a better option as I feel that supports large numbers better than teamspeak does.
I stream daily at twitch.tv/CellTank
I recommend C3, it also has a facebook chat feature and you can make free calls using bobsled.

Try it out:

have been using raidcall for a few years now. it is using a server to host a channel but hint hint its free. it also uses low resources on the computer. there are times though that it is difficult to connect to your channel. but it is free and has low latency.
The differene between calling applications like skype and the voice chat softwares like TS or mumble is, that skype and co. are not anonymous - you have to share your account with (every) other you want to talk. Teamspeak & similar only need you to login zo a server, all other clients dont get any data beside your login name (nick).

The only issue with them is that you need a server that hosts it (could be lokal - if you have a reliable/fixed ip and if you use it only for a hand full of people to talk to)

From the simplicity of configuration (even for the server which has some good sources that guide your setup) and easy UI functionality, I really prefer mumble.
