"The worst that could happen" depends on your idea as to what the game is. The worst that could happen is that the game is flooded with hacked items and everyone goes off to play another game leaving GGG without a source of income. That would be likely if they allowed people access to "modding".

By you hosting mods as leagues ;)
If I had to guess, I'd say that providing a powerful editor was outside of the time/money capabilities of GGG and also most likely a conscious decision in terms of security/opacity for the "default" content because it completely changes what you have to make visible to the client. |
