Poll: Monster life number display
Should numbers be shown on the monster life bars?
|
Add a second tab to the chat windows that is entirely combat info and nothing else.
Allow the option to either have it show in the main chat window or in it's own tab. The output can show the monster's starting health prior printing out the first-hit damage, or it can be part of the 'monster killed' text that apears at the end. |

I haven't read the whole thread but a neat idea I have is maybe when you kill a certain number of enemies you then are able to tell how much life they have.
For example you kill imps all day every day. At first you weren't sure how tough they were so you approached cautiously. After the second day you knew you could handle them as you've slain probably 50 or so. You can get a rough estimate. After a week you're the bane of all impkind and can tell exactly how hurt an imp is and how hard you need to hit it to kill it. Might give an interesting turn to things. |

i think the poll answers your question because if you could enable or disable you're giving the power of choice to the player... people like to customize the hell out of UI or interface, the more options the more comfortable and enjoyable it is for them.
short answer: if enabled |

i vote no for health point display, i can remember the times in diablo trying to take on a monster and dying because i couldnt tell if it was a strong one or not.. that partially made the game as good as it is.

I voted for giving the players the option to turn it on and off. I see nothing wrong with letting the players choose if the want to see it or not.

from what i have seen, monsters die way to quickly for numbers to have any relevance. If you decide to add it, perhaps you could add a drop down box in the settings with:
None Numbers Percentages Numbers and Percentages Something like that. I often find numbers to actually do more harm than good, since developers like to put the text in front of the bar so that you cant see the bar that good. (bad idea) |

Like the majority, I think it should be something decided in options, but I also feel that this feature should be disabled completely on the highest difficulty.

Yes certianly an optional based feature for numbers on the health bar would be nice. I know that I would want to change between the two periodically.
jersch713 - Why disable the feature on the highest difficulty? What kind of advantage or disadvantage does that have? Paying attention to how hard you hit the enemy and how many attacks it takes to take them down can easily determine what kind of life they have. It can be tedious yes, but it seems somewhat, pointless to disable the feature when a month or two will pass and monster stats will be posted on some type of wiki site. |

I suppose disabling the feature at the highest difficulty setting is actually a decent idea, it adds a sense of danger, caution and mystery to the new difficulty level... interesting idea mate.

" My thoughts exactly, from the player stand point having the option to put some numbers on the bar, having numerical values I can see exactly the amount of damage I'm delivering to said mob, some don't like it though so they could just turn it off in options. As for cluttering the Options menu it could be just checkmarked boxes having like: MobHP#[] ..........[] ..........[] Just sayingthis from the top of my head hope the poll helped :) Last edited by Indivizual#0823 on Aug 15, 2011, 12:40:46 AM
