Show Itemlevel on items!
" If you had any idea of how many times i have had to describe ilvl to some of the players, you would just let this go :D. Even a few that had diablo 2 experience had no clue what ilvl was or how it worked, ppl being surprised getting 5 socket on a lvl 5 req item and get really confused. 1 Thing they could do, is to add an option to have on/off Item level. Should not be too hard since PlugY had it for diablo 2, with the same type of option. You just wasted 3 seconds reading this.

This one is long overdue.
"Not confusing new players" is absurd, if you get confused by that you should check with a doc. Last edited by bbuns#3342 on Dec 16, 2013, 10:24:50 AM

I too find myself typing /itemlevel all the time just so I can tell which items to hang on to and attempt to roll better stats for.
" I think this is the way to go. Add a checkbox to the UI tab, turned off by default, that says simply: [ ] Include item level in tooltip Path of Exile is not targeted at the players who are scared by information. They're Diablo 3's audience. In the morning Laughing happy fish heads In the evening Floating in the soup Last edited by PrimeHydra#4228 on Dec 16, 2013, 8:14:27 PM

This seems like a no-brainer.
Regardless of how confusing it is or isn't, itemlevel is a stat that is VERY relevant in determining the value of an item, and currently it cannot be verified prior to trade completion. That's a more damaging consequence than confusion. Maybe adding a currency that can increase item level would make the stat more mainstream. Almost everything else about an item can be modified, why not this? Last edited by Khalixxa#0534 on Dec 16, 2013, 1:55:52 PM

The easiest way for both ggg dev team and players would be to implement this the same way as in the chat and trade.
The item level is shown as a tooltip when alt key is pressed. If they add this when we over our items on our stash/inventory, everyone will be happy. |

Be happy you can check the itemlevel at all
As i recall in d2 you needed a 3rd party program (which were bannable) |

" This. And how hard is it to type "/itemlevel"? If you want to know an item level, you can find out. If you don't want to know, you don't have to see it on all of your items. I could see an option to display item levels being available in the UI menu. That could be convenient. People should be able to see the item levels of items that they are trading for, imo. Also, to me, "not confusing new players" is a very valid reason not to display item levels on everything. Most players do not need to know what the item levels of all of their stuff are from the beginning. Most players probably wouldn't know what the item level meant or was used for until they spent more time in Wraeclast. Most players only need to know item levels at specific times, like when deciding which item(s) to keep or which item to throw a Chance/Alchemy Orb on. So, why display item level all the time? It is really a 'need to know' attribute. Not a primary attribute. TY to those who called me out on my BS on these forums. There is no benefit to being so selfish as to fail to acknowledge others' differing beliefs of what "should be" or believe your own opinions so supreme as to be factual and thus dismiss others' opinions as being somehow a lie or delusional. I don't see why an option, togged off by default, could be that confusing.
"Oh my god, an option that I don't know what means!!!??? What do I do? Oh my, this game is too complex, I'll leave to play tetris..." ... c'mon, not gonna happen ... Do you want a complex thing? Try to explain desync to new players. That's a complex thing. |

" Id like to see this added, not so much that typing /itemlevel is hard. But I purchased a pair of Item level 24. This means that they can never have 4 sockets which requires item level 28. If I had known this at the time, I wouldn't have purchased them. This is one of many end game usable uniques that can be below the item level required for maximum sockets. As a side note.. the whole, 'not confusing new players' argument is just not a valid argument in my opinion. Press P while playing and tell me honestly which of the 2 would be more confusing to a new player. |
