Solo Self-found end-game

Wow....

If it took 300 hours to get that then I absolutely see no point doing the end game if all the results are going to be really unrewarding.
What many of you, and GGG also, seem to overlook is that the average game of a gamer is no longer 17-19 years like 10-15 years ago, but it's now probably around 25-26.

Someone like me, and I would presume a lot of other players here, has to balance work and free time. I didn't have to do this when I played D2 for example, but today I'm lucky if I can play 3-4 hours per day.

In case of OP case, translated to such situation, we are talking about 3 months (!!) of constant playing to end up with an average gear, and almost no 70+ maps. On one character.

I see a lot of accusation of wanting instant gratifications, but I only want proper return of investement. Right now, the game is set up as a Korean MMO, which sucks for someone who just wants a nice hack'n'slash.

The thing that puzzles me the most is that GGG has a perfect way to solve this problem, due to their system of leagues. Leave 4 month leagues as a challenge, to keep the interest of the most hard core, but turn the Standard or make a new league with increased drops, that will ponder to solo players who do not have that much time to invest in the game.

As a side not, yesterday after quite a while, I tried playing in a group. The guy with LMP Ice shot was the biggest desyncer I saw in the game so far.
„I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“
No mod action. Business as usual.

I WAS a self-found player but am now quitting.

I got hacked (do not share passwords with anyone; have never used this name or password in another game; no Trojans or keyloggers on my pc etc etc). GGG wont help as they have to "protect the economy".

They stole all my currency, decent gems, decent rings and amys (MF and life and mana leech), all decent uniques were stolen.....8-9 months of self-found stuff.

My sporkers gear is gone (wasn't using her anyway after the 1.0.0) but my duelist is now stuffed (BOR is gone) and my ranger is stuffed. Was levelling a new summoner and she's up to maps now but I have no currency to tweek her gear ....blah blah

I thought I would just maybe start over but after 3 days of playing have decided it just takes too long to get all the goodies again - and I have nothing left at all to trade to gear up again.

It then dawned on me that I would probably just be buying my gear back (or new replacement gear) from some ass wipe with 5000 exalts and uber gear gained by stealing from others....making the ass wipe even richer. I know not all players are thieves but we all know how some of these people got to be so rich...

If you think this sounds like a whinge - you're correct.
300 hours in, and he still has more to do - so many gear upgrades yet to be found!

If you are enjoying playing the game, taking longer to get to the end can only be a good thing.

Many complain and/or worry they won't be able to do play the game solo and do maps without trading. So, here's an example of all solo, self-found gear up to my current level of 83. My gear is nothing exciting and I found my weapon in a level 66 map. I haven't started doing level 70+ maps yet.

I'm glad your having fun in your desired league.

75 deaths = 75 rerolls and a net loss of a substantial amount of gear in a hardcore league.

4 hours a day (which is a lot if you have job/university and friends/family) = 75 days = 2,5 months.

The leagues are only 4 months, so he has 1,5 months left and he has only ONE char that can't even really run maps. That looks fucked up.

The most important thing is, does he have fun. And he has. That is the most important.

The same as you and me that want a self found (i guess you want it also? xD) league where we can have much more fun. Different people like different things and that is ok. Everyone should have a option to play the game how he likes the most. More options the better
level 72 maps is not end game, from 66 to 72 is where you climb in the maps to get to end game, wich is 74 maps more.

Well, I have to agree 4 month leagues are bad for remotely casual players, and have no advantage for solo self found at all. They really only benefit those who want to compete for position, and those who want to play the economy not the game.

I don't see what looks "fucked up" still - if you aren't trading, and aren't fighting over ladder positions, exactly what is it that makes running mere standard maps not really running maps at all in your view? Because that's the only cost of breaking the 4 month deadline...

btw, I played anarchy for around 2.5 months, loved the challenges and the rogues but got frequently annoyed that an item I wanted on an anarchy char was in standard and vice versa, especially with race rewards, then rl intruded and I had to stop playing for a couple of months, missed the league end and left several challenged almost-but-not-quite done. Decided to give it a miss this time to keep my stash in one place and have been loving the decision ever since.

A game should reward a player with fun, not with gear.

If you play for gear, expect the game to be unrewarding like ANY other ARPG
