I'm torn.

Be a Boss. Play Nemesis.

There are 6 difficulties in PoE.

Domination Normal>Cruel>Merciless>Nemesis Normal>Cruel>Merciless

You can get away with a lot more extreme builds that die easily in domination because there is no real major loss on death. Domination is easier, it's not the same as Nemesis. You don't even have those nasty Nemesis mods on rare that can easily kill players for not paying attention.

If you want an easier more casual time, then play Domination.
If you want a challenge, then play Nemesis.
I've died to desynch so many times I've lost track and I will not play hardcore on this game until its fixed. It's really frustrating. I'll run through a door and then all of a sudden start taking damage even though no monsters are near me. Then I potion spam hoping I survive long enough to resynch and leech. Most of the time it works. But the "most" is the problem. I haven't died from my own fault in weeks.

Make a macro /oos and bind it to a key or mouse button of your liking. I hate desync as much as the most passionate guy about it does. Dying to it "can" be avoided even though we shouldn't have to avoid it in the first place.
stay in nemesis

Right? My internet disconnects me twice a week alone. Desync is another monster completely. I would enjoy testing my luck against the Nemesis monsters, but the whole death is permanent thing has always just been too over the top for me when you consider all the variables. I can completely understand that it is much healthier for the economy, but still find myself uninterested in playing it.
If you can no life and like having weeks of time removed instantly due to bad design, over scaled damage spikes and stability problems, stay in nemesis.
If real life is getting in the way of gaming, then just alter the way you play games.

After all real life comes first.

I have been a Standard player since Feb 2013, and even when the new leagues came out, I didn't try Anarchy or Onslaught.

I have a full time job, an 8 month old baby girl, and wife and family to look after, so the time I put into PoE is very precious to me.

I did try Nemesis at first, but after two RIPs at 63 and 60, I decided that was enough. I was loosing progress each time because of the currency investment just for each new toon to level up, and also each new toon took a week to 2 just to get to lvl 60, as I don't have much of the OP low level uniques.

It took me a bit of thinking just like yourself about whether to keep fighting in Nemesis or just stay in Standard.

Now I'm happy to play in Standard, and I also have a healthy currency base to work with as I'm changing builds a lot, experimenting diffient builds, and having the resources available is really easy. Having a few stacks of low level uniques really make early pre-map leveling easy too. I find fun in end game through mapping etc and I just don't enjoy the early leveling anymore.

So at the end of the day, doesn't matter which league you play, as long as it's fun for you, you should just do what you want to do.

Go to Domination.
It's too easy to lose all your progress in a hardcore league. I ran Nemesis up until 72 and died to a one-shot with max resist and tons of armour.

You can still build tanky in Domination. But if you make that mistake or get that crash you still get to play the character. So your week of progress would stay a week of progress.

Willing to bet your " 1 shot" is full of shit.
