I'm torn.

So I've been playing since closed beta. Been supporting this game since. Did onslaught rarely, couldn't get to map stage due to dying. I just RIP'd on Nemesis due to the new portal gem skin froze me and viper strike exile just shotgun'd me. Level 56.

After release and Nemesis coming out I though I would give it another try. I recently have moved out of my parents house, have a girlfriend living with me and can't video game all day. Level 56 took me a whole week. And to have my free time for the past week just gone like that, knowing I wont get to map stage for another two weeks if I re-roll is making me start to want to go to domination.

The only reason I would want to go to domination is it is a little bit more laid back. Though I feel I would get bored with my character due to no feeling of if my build will give me enough defense.

Go to Domination.
It's too easy to lose all your progress in a hardcore league. I ran Nemesis up until 72 and died to a one-shot with max resist and tons of armour.

You can still build tanky in Domination. But if you make that mistake or get that crash you still get to play the character. So your week of progress would stay a week of progress.

Depends how you look at it. You didn't "lose" your free time. You enjoyed it. Just because your character dies doesn't mean you lost the fun you had. I can't enjoy non-hc so I play hc. When I die, ya it sucks, but its part of the game. You aren't wasting any time if you're having fun.

This is true but I am just getting tired of spending a week on leveling than not even seeing my hard work on the build to its full potential.

I would just roll Domination like you said. I've exclusively played HC/nemesis in PoE but after awhile dying just demotivates me to play the game. It's really just not worth putting in the time when all that time could come to an end over desync or some other silly shit. I've only made it to lv 52. Learned a few things but at this point the game is just not fun enough to keep me motivated to play. I haven't even ever made it to the map phase of the game. If I make a new character some time(which could be a while as I am really enjoying playing Druid in LoD hardcore expansion) it is probably going to be Domination league or I may just resume one of my fallen in Standard.

I know the feeling. I have a chest that I designed a build around (Death's Oath), which requires level 62 to equip. The character I created for it died at like level 58 or something due to a desync bone roah. It was tough to go back to the character creation screen when I never saw the fruits of my work.

I am now level 54 on my new character... Must..play..careful..

the thing stopping me from rolling on domination is the build aspect of softcore compared to hardcore.

Come to domination. There is no shame in it. Many of the domination players have no trouble getting to high levels in nemesis, we just choose not to, because like you, we have real world responsibilities, and simply can't go through the releveling each time a character dies. I got 4? 5? 60+ HC/Nemesis at the moment, but I rarely play them. I enjoy domination. After playing HC, the thrill you get at a close encounter in domination is EXACTLY the same, because your mind has been trained to avoid death at all costs. It's just that after death, you get a chance at revenge.

You can also go into things blind and try crazy map mods you wouldn't try elsewhere. Instead of portaling out alt/f4ing when you are at 20%, you can fight and see if maybe you win after all. I find it far more thrilling.

I don't feel the same way about standard, personally, because my stash is so filled there with AMAZING gears, that the challenge just isn't the same.
