My personal map-rule Nr.1: never spent much currency on (low level)maps, NEVER! ;) FIND maps and reroll only with the cheap blue orbs, and sometimes CHANCE maps that can be a Unique map. It works because I just found a vault map and I just crafted a vault map out of one single Orb of Chance (yes, one).
So whatever I find in these maps it is already profit because I basicly got the maps for free.
People should stop to craft tons of Alchs and Chaos orbs into maps, it is not worth it. At least not if you play selffound like me. Use cheap blue maps, Transmutation-, Alteration-, Augmentation- Orbs and sometimes a Orb of Chance.
I once got 6 (!) maps out of an tiny blue Level 66 Map with ~25% Item Quantity. One of these was a Coward's TrialThe "Coward's Trial" map. I usualy get 1-3 Maps out of these maps, always have enough maps to continue, even trade 3 of a kind to a new one at the vendor.

Of course you can blingbling your high level maps 75+ but I never had one of these, again I play solo and don't trade. But it still can be fun especialy when you have basicly no invest but always profit out of these maps (currency, maps, rares, some unique istems etc.)

I think they just need to dump the 19xx% rarity crap from the map description as it would imply to the person who got it that its going to be raining uniques...

I mean the way most people look at it is " Im running with 30/100, imagine what Ill get with 1987%!"

Should just change it to "You have an ice cubes chance in hell of getting anything useful out of this map"

I would have to say the map is more worthless than even JamJam's Wool Flip-Flops. Now if it dropped as much as the other crap uniques then it might be worth it to take a break and stroll through mindlessly.

To the OP though, I sympathize but lesson learned I would hope.
