When diablo 3 RoS comes out, PoE will die and the future will repeat itself

Oh and for the record, PoE fails to live up to D2 just as much as D3 does

I used to stomp pubs with my windy druid in D2 and craft runewords with 8 mods and 300 enhanced damage

Here I play shopping simulator with braindead AI and waste my life putting FUCKING EXALTS AGAIN AND AGAIN INTO PIECES OF CRAP FOR LIGHT RADIUS AND 8 FIRE RESIST

Good ARPGs dont exist anymore.

if it ain't good why do you play it? Also, D2 was broken to no end, Teleport runewords were OP, so were holy shock builds and hammerdins and many other things.

You can always go and play a different game that has D2 features, its called Diablo 2, go play it.

Couldn't think of a counterargument. Better tell them to quit PoE.

I'll play whichever will allow me to progress through content, without the need to play shopping economy.

Currently RoS seems more promising.

When you dish out those 30 bucks don't come here and cry about it how much the game sucks. The trading there will be like it is here, chat spam. There wont be any AH or RMAH to use.

I would prefer not to trade at all, because trading sucks everywhere. It just seems that Blizz is making away with the need to trade to be able to progress, while in PoE this will always be the case.

I think you overestimate this loot 2.0 thing.

We were promised the mystic and a bigger act 4 than it was in D2, what we got was a mystic we have to free in the release version but pay 30 bucks for her to be usable in RoS, also the 5 stash tabs who were originally in the game were reduced to 3 so they can charge those 30 bucks and not to mention the PVP promise they broke.

PVP on release, oh yeah just wait for some kind of PVP somewhere down the road instead.
Just played D3 with a friend some hours ago after a long break of around 7-8 months?

After we made a run we was like "eh ok but actually no thank's" i don't think ROS is able to pull the sausage from the bread here, beside those GGG nerfing orgies (guys you really need to chill) and desync POE wins here hands down, or lets say two hands down.

Actually trying a another ARPG called Grim Down, looks Promising so far, kinda more D2'ish than POE but still with its own style, so in other words i'm even open to try new stuff but a return to D3 as an active player is unthinkable ATM.

We all know that when the new d3 expansion is out, there will be drop in active players playing this game.

And also we all know that after a month or less people will come back to PoE, especially after act 4 is released.

Even in past when PoE was in closed beta, people said no one will play this game after d3 and we all see they where wrong. I guarantee the same will happen again.

From info i got d3 is improved a lot, and I will probably get it and play it, but there is no chance ever that blizzard will try to make diablo 3 more in depth compared to PoE,the one of the strongest points of this game.

I'm only planning on trying out vanilla D3 after the release of RoS, see what it delivers.

The way I see it, there's a Star Trek quote by Scotty that comes to mind.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

I don't think so.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Most people won't buy or play D3 expansion at all.

Anyway, I played D3 console for a couple months when i burned out here to hold me over till release, and its improved 10 fold. Honestly, from a pure "fun" stand point, its better. It wasn't quite loot 2.0, its more like loot 1.5, but its still miles better. Legendaries scale with level so they are always useful, and they drop, a lot. It makes the game so much more fun. You still have a lot of the same issues you have now in the pre expansion PC version(not much to do in end game), but just the fact that you get to play totally self found made it so much more enjoyable for me.

I played the PC version when it came out, and like most of you, left pissed off and came to PoE. And at first I really did feel PoE blew it out of the water, but as you start to approach the end game, many of the same flaws rear their ugly head. And all these amazing build opportunities start to shrink unless your in the wealthy minority, and can afford to get the uniques needed to support those builds. Its damn near impossible to progress self found. Just like D3, the difference between good rares and poor raes are way too far apart, causing you to get 99% crap. Legs don't drop enough(though they seem to drop a bit more in launch version), and 99.9% of them are crap. And PoE makes RNG even worse than d3. Not only do you need to get a great roll to get the stats you need, you then need to get the right sockets, the right links, and the right colors. RNG just plays to big a role in you progressing. I can make a perfect cookie cutter build, have all the skill in the world, and still hit a brick wall because of RNG. Im not saying gear needs to be handed out, but it needs to be easier to get a 5l. 6L can remain damn near impossible.

Compare that to console d3(which prob goes a bit far, the pc update wont be as generous), where there is no AH. Everything is self found, and progressing is never a problem. When i came back to PoE, my monk was able to solo the ubers at master 4(which would of been like MP 8). All self found, and a whole lot of fun.

Now, with PoE robust skill tree, imagine if getting some of this gear was even just a bit easier, viable build choices would open up, and the game could be so much more fun in the long run. Cause as it stands, if you arent wealthy, you might as well just pile on the life, and go cookie cutter. Otherwise, you might not even make it through late act 3 cruel, let alone merciless. Hell, my 63 scion doesn't even have her resists capped. I cant make it happen. I've been wearing the same helm since lvl 40, the same belt since the 20s, I just changed my gloves for the first time since the lvl 20, chest is 40ish, rings 15-30, boots 20s. The only thing ive updated regularly is my weapon. Ive gotten lucky and found a few deals while in town. But im just not willing to sit in town playing path of trade stuff. Even if it was enjoyable, my stuff flies off screen before anyone even has a chance to see it. TO progress, ive had to go way up into the ranger tree to get the reduced mana reserve so I could run a second aura. Without it, im blown apart in act 3 merc. That in itself isnt terrible, but i still feel like a strong sneeze might kill me if im not careful. This is also why that 5 link is so important for your main skill. Life leech. I can even imagine what this would be like without it. Does anyone not use life leech i wonder(also a problem in d3, that they are looking into fixing....thats scary)?

TLDR
I enjoy the game, and will most likely always bounce between it and d3, but RNG just plays to big of a factor. Based off my console d3 exp, ROS is going to be far more "fun" to play(IMO). If PoE got rid of some of the RNG in gear and currency(far too hard to link your own 5l, getting resists capped for example), tons of build options could open up to the masses, rather than the wealthy elite.

Forgot about d3 during closed PoE beta.

Im too old to jump ship. I know what I like in a game and d3 is not it.

End.

Watching the RoS beta makes me appreciate the PoE devs for somewhat understanding what makes ARPGs fun. Of course, PoE isn't without its flaws. But RoS looks disastrous.
I loved the "when D3 comes out PoE will be dead" threads. I'm glad RoS is bringing them back, will be sad when they leave but we can all await the following expansion for their return.

Happy hunting/fishing
honestly.. PoE already got their little niche on market..this game will probably never be big.. but as long as they can keep their crowd happy, no other game is going to kill PoE ..of course..don't fool ourselves..games like RoS or Grim Dawn will definitely make a dent here..but in a big picture..it shouldn't be hard for GGG to keep this little community alive..

however, just try put word "desync" into google..without poe or path of exile....and just read few pages..you will find out..that outside this forum, PoE is not very positive topic at all.. I don't want repeat myself..but if GGG wont fix desync in some timely manner, PoE could easily shoot itself to the legs..and that wouldn't be good for anyone...nor even Blizzard and diablo players..
