When diablo 3 RoS comes out, PoE will die and the future will repeat itself

ROFL hilarious ...

I think he is talking in relation to the D3 sales. It sold a shit ton of copys based on the Brand and I too think only a fraction of that enormous number will buy the expansion. It will still be probably a large number, but like we saw with the initial release, it doesn't matter how many copys they sell. It does however matter how many players they can keep long term. And that is written in the stars.

I love path but have you played d3 on the console its amazing drops are insane

if ROS is anything like that is but with tons of new content path may end up being a wasteland

im not hating on path at all just saying

What's with all the black and white. There are poeple who like PoE, there are people that like D3 (even though i think it stinks) and there are people that like both.

There are also alot of people that like PoE more than D3 not because of some drops or anything.

Just because RoS might be a success doesn't mean PoE will lose most of its playerbase.

Play the game you think is better. Brand loyalty will get you nowhere.

Brand loyalty has gotten me into a lot of good things. I've read plenty of books, played plenty of games and watched plenty of TV shows and movies that I normally wouldn't have touched otherwise except they were put together by people who'd proven themselves capable in the past. And that's just to name a few areas where brand loyalty will get you somewhere.

I mean, think about your statement here. It's just... so wrong.

Maybe he should have said "blind brand loyalty" to make his point.

When it comes to games some publishers like Blizzard and Bioware that used to be innovative and good now pretty much suck.
Nothing to see here.
You will be able to try it on Dreamhack so I will see if I manage to try it there before I even think of buying it!

The problem with D3 is that there are no builds. It can never succeed because the core element of ARPG's is to do content over and over again, while playing with a different build.

I won't even try RoS.

This is pretty much as incorrect as you can possibly get. First off, any good ARPG has the core element of yes doing content over and over again, but to be able to GRIND that content on the same character/build if you please, so you can farm up items to be the best PvP or whatever floats your boat. That's what D2 had for me, I wanted to get the best possible items to be the best in PvP. That's why I grinded my Hammerdin to max, although I did have many other characters I re rolled to.

In that sense though, I'm sure more "builds" will come out for the D3 expansion. Blizzard knows why D3 failed, and RoS is going to be fun I think. I will definitely play. But for you sitting here saying that the main point of an ARPG is to keep re-rolling new characters? No sir, no sir..

Diablo 3 was fun for a while, mainly for me because of the way the actual combat was. It was pretty damn satisfying, and a lot more smooth then PoE's. Also, didn't have to deal with desync and that BS. With no AH, new characters, hopefully lots of new skills and shit too? RoS might be pretty promising, and I definitely will be giving it a try. Seriously though, I can't stand fanboys of any kind just blowing false information out their ass. You can like this game and still enjoy D3 too, guys. It doesn't have to be a "omg i have to fanboy GGG and be a poe player...fuck d3!!!" or "man blizz rocks d3 is teh bomb fuck GGG and poe" I mean seriously people, play what game is fun to YOU!

And for me, to be honest I've only spent like 10 bucks here on PoE buying stash tabs. I just can't donate a lump sum of RL $ to a game that doesn't have stable servers, where a new "good" build could/probably will get nerfed after kids crying about it, I mean come on man..no one wants to play shit like that, no one.

And just a FYI, I don't play d3 anymore. I really enjoy PoE man it's the closest thing to Diablo 2 that I've played since D2 itself. What I hate is the fact we can't play offline, how unstable the servers can be with desync/latency issues, etc. I know it's free to play, but I would not mind spending 60$ on this game to ensure I could play it without having to worry about desync and huge latency issues.
Ever since I played the D3 beta I thought D3 is an overrated joke right in the face of gamers.
Never even considered buying it.

Reason is simple:

There is no skilling. Every single character has exactly the same skills.
There is absolutely no need to roll a character twice with one exception: If he died.
There is absolutely no possibility to miss-skill your character.
There is absolutley no possibility to make a unique character.

Also Items are kind of a joke.
You just pick other gear with higher numbers.

You can't dumb down the concept of an arpg any more than D3.
IMO D3 is the Call of Duty of arpgs.

And no expansion pack will change these facts.

I don't think so.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Most people won't buy or play D3 expansion at all.

I'll buy and play through RoS.

Once, maybe twice.

It will have very little replay value though. The character design is far too simplistic.

POE has proved good enough to me that I'll likely play both. RoS supposedly fixes a lot of the problems of D3 and I'd like to find out how much of that is true. We'll see. I still question whether an itemization system based around more strength or more INT is any good. Right now, D3 is entirely about getting the biggest strength/int/etc rolls on all gear with all resist.

I do like what they've done with RoS so far, from what I (think) I understand about it.

+ No AH (fixes major issue in the game)
+ Rifts System (a simplified Maps system like POE)
+ Item Modification (a simplified crafting system like POE)

As long as they keep taking good things from good games like POE, it'll be worth trying out Diablo. But they would need to do an absolute absurd amount to the end-game of D3 to make it playable long-term. Itemization is absolutely terrible in the game, just terrible. No min-maxing, no build "planning," nothing that really speaks to ARPG players. Hopefully they fix that.

The one thing I suspect D3 has going for it, is despite not releasing with PVP, the Diablo community has always been fairly tilted towards a PVP end-game, and Blizzard certainly has the resources to provide on that front in a compelling way. I worry POE may never have a real "PVP" community, which is ultimately what carries ARPGs through the long-term.
