A Low Life Indicator
As it stated there is effect, and for low life builds it is full head hurt. They can see nothing.

all i would like to know is what % is considered low life?
10- 20- 30- wouldnt think it would be highe than that. I think between 10-15. so can be worked out pretty easy Smoother than Smooth. Last edited by Moist#6523 on Jan 4, 2013, 6:53:18 AM

" The problem is that the effect is gradual, so it's hard to know when you have passed the threshold. When you are just below 35%, the effect is more or less unnoticeable. " That can easily be fix if they base the effects on % of nonreserved life. |

A year ago, in the start of beta or so, it was way weay better. Was similar to d3, screen clearly indicates you when low life, turns more darker and you can't see far from you the more you lose more life. No idea why they remove such a good designed thing.
I got a bigger problem than the one you mentioned, btw. It's with Chaos Innoculation an Energy Shield. Life orb is visible, but energy shield not so much. Specially in hc, it's hard to notice when you have lose shield, and how much. I really think it would be a better design for example, turn the life orb green while you got 1+ ES left, and once you have 0 ES, just turn to red colour. This way, when you have ES left, you can just check the orb and easily see if it's empty, 1/2 or what. But maintaining a normal orb. The way it is implemented is cool visually, but IMHO very messy while playing. IGN: Gonorreitor

" That sounds like the same system, but only now, it's gradual, which causes the problem. Also, I agree, it makes no sense for the red part to be bigger than the white. It should be proportional to the ES to life ratio. |

" As for now ES is pretty much a second life pool. If you take chaos damage and loos hp, but not ES, you won't even notice if the ES pool goes over the HP pool. As for CI, I don't think they would rework and code the UI just cuz of one passive... Btw, an easy way to rework ES, in my PoV, is to just make it as the classic concept of mana shield. But it seems like GGG do not enjoy mana shield from other arpgs, as they never answered any requests on this matter. Because life is short, you shall make rains of all sort - Amarena, the Iron Man

I wonder if it might not be the place for a good sound effect. Character makes some kind of recognizable sound as health drops below x% or perhaps if it drops x% in y tenths of a second.

The reduction in player light radius is not an indication of specifically low life, and as has been pointed out, happens gradually over the whole life range (although it does happen less before you get to the low life threshold, so that there's more radius left then than would otherwise be the case).
On the other hand, the light tinting red is a specific indication of being on low life that happens at the threshold (it occurs fully over roughly 37%-33%). Last edited by Mark_GGG#0000 on Jan 8, 2013, 4:53:19 PM

I have an opinion on "screen turns red at low health" mechanics.
