Dealing with desync: how to make a /oos hotkey

The reason is because officially supporting/recommending the command is effectively admitting their system is busted and they aren't planning on fixing it.

Typing /oos simply forces a rubberband. You don't fix desync with it. Your character is already in trouble before you even realize you need to type it.

Yes, it forces a resync with the server, after which you'll probably desync again. What you can do is drink a quartz flask after using /oos.

One of the major causes of desync is having a monster in your character's path on the server that isn't in your path on the client. This stops your movement on the server but makes it look like you're still moving on the client, causing those nasty desyncs where you rubberband back into a pack of enemies. A quartz flask will remove monster collision for a few seconds, meaning that even if there is a monster on the server they won't prevent you from moving.

Yep, quartz flask = anti-desync flask. Best item in the game bar none.

Drink up.

Yeah, it's incredibly annoying that people just can't understand that desync is unfixable, even after all this time and many posts by Chris.

It's almost like they're trolling or something.

Either the game has latency on every input and feels sluggish and shitty, or you have desync. Pick one. And for the record, I would actually pick option1 for pvp reasons.

The thing is, the devs didn't make the necessary design compromises to minimize desync that other games make (more open level design, no monster collision, etc). In so doing they allowed it to become a huge gameplay problem. Imo, that's a mistake.
