It is an act, or a persona, that made him famous and makes money. Its no different than a comedian doing a skit.
Its kind of like Larry the Cable guy. This guy is from like montana, has no accent, and went to college. I think he learned the accent from a roomate in college. His name is Dwayne or some crap too; its not even Larry.
Larry the Cable Guy was one of his "skits," or characters of his show, and people loved it so much, it became his ONLY skit or persona. Now, hes a millionaire faking being a redneck, and its not his real name, real persona, real anything. Just completely fake and what makes people like him.
Same with Athene. Athene was just some troll persona that people latched onto while he was in WoW, and he ran with it. If you actually believe thats him, well you have problems, just like the people who actually believe Larry the Cable Guy is a real person.
It's not if you start to annoy and affect real people with it. The thing why so many people hate him is because he's using his shitty persona in a games with real people. He wastes time of 9 people in League of Legends matches by acting like a total dick. This behavior directly affects those 9 people. It wastes their time and their mood.
Lol, you are always going to affect or annoy real people. ALWAYS. Even Swifty, one of the nicest guys ever, has haters and he affects people everyday by playing arena or whatever he's doing.
Hell, Kripp annoys the hell out of me, and ruins lots of people's experience by being gifted items all day, and being able to get rich off garbage items, him and his friends, because people would trade anything to get on stream, not to mention his overall affect on the game in various ways, that negatively affect lots of players in PoE. They all affect someone in some fashion or another. To single out one is a bit stupid, when all these streamers affect people and things negatively.

This guy gets it. I dont like listening to comedians make fun of white people all day, like Chris Rock, so I dont watch their shows. Do I think the are that racist? No, but people love to hear that stuff, so they make a living being racist with racist jokes. Its an act.

"Hey, I'm going to stream and have a persona of a complete douche because I want to cause controversy and get rich quick"
I would have no problems with that. You idiots can give him all the money you want, that is your prerogative.
When he comes out and says "Oh this is all for charity it's all for the kids". That's when it becomes a problem for me. The people who don't realize he is doing solely for his own benefit are in desperate need of a reality check. You are the most naive group of people I have ever witnessed in my entire life.
