Lol, he just has extreme different opinion when it comes to the concept of "the end justify the means". My opinion is that depending on the means and the end, it can be justified and Athene falls into that category.
As for "Athene would be just as popular if he played a "good guy" persona" (paraphrasing): he doesn't know, he really doesn't know. Why risk something that evidently raises a lot of money to charity for something that may not?

He is actually pretty dead on. Using charity as a shield to be a dick is pretty disgusting.
Also, as the guy points out, sure he may not make money on twitch, but getting his name out for his youtube vids puts money in his pocket.
EDIT: by the way I donate to charity, so you can't say mean things to me.

None of that makes Athene even close to a shit person. I don't know, maybe you've never actually seen or met an actual "shit person." Regardless, this Destiny guy makes some pretty good points(with the exception of the incredibly moronic rape analogy that you also tried to make). Athene is certainly no saint and that video of his did make him look kinda preachy and self-important. So what if he makes a living while helping raise money for a charity; he still rose money for that charity, which is far more than most people here will ever do in their entire lifetime. I doubt most people here will ever volunteer at a soup kitchen like my ex-gf did.
Or: you can't really know what her primary motive is. It is simply impossible to know :D. And she may not know it herself.

No, doing something bad or a dick move or whatever does NOT invalidate your good moves. The only reason you and him use the rape analogy is because how severe and how odious that crime is. It makes it so much easier to then say "the good you do doesn't matter because you're like a rapist!" What rubbish, what incredible horseshit. Very disingenuous. Doing what Athene did or does is absolutely nothing like rape.
Hell, even the Destiny guy admitted that he essentially likes Athene, but dislikes some of the things he does.

Destiny took the troll hook deep. He made a LOT of valid points. Had athene not trolled him, destiny would not have voiced these points. Doing something worthy of respect does not negate intolerable behavior.

I don't really give a shit about the guy one way or the other, but here's the thing. Up until a week or two ago, I had no fucking idea he even existed. Since then, I can't open POE forum or Reddit POE sub without seeing 2-5 topics about this guy, so now it does, in fact, affect me. Not enough (yet) to care one way or the other, but when it gets to the point that we start having threads about what Athene had for breakfast, yeah it will probably start to agitate me.
