Dominius Corrupting Blood Rain Is not
Brotip -
Dominus is laughably easy if you avoid his highly telegraphed attacks, kill adds while not facetanking him, and apply your damage when the scripted fight allows you to do so. You don't even really need special gear beyond level-appropriate armor/weapon(s) for your chosen defense/skill(s) and the obligatory max resists. First form - Manually avoid the "Freezing Bonds" totems and pull Dominus close enough to one of the broken wall sections that you can reliably use it as an LoS block when he does his lightning hose, run like a rabbit to your safe spot or circle-kite to avoid this attack. Be prepared to manually avoid Touch of God, which he telegraphs from about five miles away (movement skills and/or Quicksilvers are ideal for this). Second form - outside of Blood Rain, avoid Dominus and kill the adds, as soon as Blood Rain starts rush inside the bubble and apply as much damage as you can while being immune to any and all bleed effects thanks to the immunity bubble you are in. If you don't get cleaved outside of Blood Rain, you cannot take Corrupted Blood stacks. Killing the adds between Blood Rain casts means they are not a worry during the rain. Killing adds will refill your flasks should you need to top off due to taking some Blood Rain damage as you get to the bubble. Granted, this method will take a little bit longer than "FASETANK4TEHWINZ!!!!one1!", but you will die less. |

" That's if you have a really smooth game, otherwise, the tiniest machine lag makes you unable to dodge "lightning hose". And this fight produces a lot of slow-downs with many computers I bet, that's basically the reason why I'm not gonna go against him again in merciless, because I know that his first form will probably kill me that way. I find it sad that not a single person in this thread has yet to point out that the Undying Evangelists use the same exact bubble as Dominus. You cannot hurt them from outside it.
You fight them while climbing the Sceptre of God, you're supposed to see that and then when Dominus uses his bubble.... Support a free Hong Kong.
I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use. -Galileo Galilei |

You kinda can actually, the bubble fades away if you run around and then you can shoot.
Your point remains valid though. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" Fruz, I am one of those players with a less-than-modern machine (seven year old CPU+Mobo+RAM, five year old GPU, 32-bit OS). I will not fight him in Nemesis Merciless until I can scrape the cash together to build a new box. As it stands, my machine cannot reliably load the map changes between forms, and not just on the Dominus map. I get client crashes when I kill Piety and the server tells the client to wipe the adds (done via a map change), for me to "run" Piety is a pain. Still, even with my issues, I am able to reliably handle the Dominus encounter in normal and cruel, mostly by playing within the limits of what my machine will allow. No, it isn't a playstyle for everyone, but it does work, and it is valid, given the limitations I face. EDIT - One thing I try to do during first phase is to "taunt" him into using the lightning hose attack while I am in a safe-ish place so that my machine can load the effect and deal with that lag without me being in peril. I am not obliged to expect GGG to do anything about my personal issues related to my tech, it is on me to try to overcome them. Last edited by Sinnesteuer#7507 on Dec 5, 2013, 10:53:25 AM

Are you able to fully dodge the "lightning hose" attack ?
Because as a melee, with some slow-downs / mini-freezes, I personally can't, I take at least half of it. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" Not 100% of the time. I plan on taking at least some damage from this, but no more than 1 second per "hose". As a melee you have movement skills that are appropriate to your weapon type which, even at lvl 1, allow you to get the hell out of Dodge (Leap Slam, Whirling Blades, reduced duration Lightning Warp, for some examples). Also, Topaz flasks and Quicksilvers if this is the one "hitch" in getting you through the fight. The fight does require a level of "twitch reflex" that can be difficult for some players to master, but the tools are there for you to take advantage of, if you choose. I wonder if anyone has tried using a Quartz Flask during the hose to see if you can stand "inside" Dominus and not take any damage during the cast.... |

Even with leap slam, a little freeze/slow and half of the ES pool is gone most likely ( tried to tank it with a topaz flask, I have a lot of leech => I still die, so I can only run ), I'd like a fight smooth to ruin him, but that's not happening anytime soon.

Whoa OK, just tried this for the first time today. Enter the room after dying, and it starts raining blood as soon as I enter. Using a quicksilver potion, I rush towards safety before I get killed by the blood, not even half way from the entrance to Dominius' shield. Repeat 5 times, exact same thing happens. Am I doing something wrong, or is this broken?

You can just train with those golden bubble shields to find out how they work with the early mobs you find inside the sceptre of god. You can't damage them if you're outside of it, so, when you see Dominus' one, why you run away from it?
