Dominius Corrupting Blood Rain Is not

Its a final boss fight so its supposed to be difficult, I get it.

But that corrupting blood rain... how would anyone know what the hell is going on with out prior knowledge of the fight. Its unfair really.

I wanted to get the full experience and beat the game with out a "guide" or "easy tips".
I knew nothing about the boss fight, and i made it all the way up to that part.

Now i find out that unlike before when his base glows to damage you, this time its to be a safe zone.
So I instinctively ran away to dodge the attack. Only see it raining blood all over my screen and my health going down to 0 within a few seconds.

Ive died plenty of times in this game (desync), but honestly this is the dumbest death i've had so far.

Well, theres my little rant.

But come on how would anyone figure that out on their first try?

PoE is sort of riddled with poorly documented and explained mechanics, this is not new and I do think some of it needs to be addressed.

My first (blind) encounter with dominus went something like this.

Start the fight, kill stuff, eventually blood rain....WTF WTF WTF, log out.

Come back, take a gamble and decide to stand in the big circle because it looked different than the others and SURELY there must be a way to avoid that shit.

Lucky for me it worked, but it is not obvious, it is not intuitive and effectively requires knowledge of the fight. It had nothing to do with skill and only my logging out and a bit of gambling paid off.

I have to admit that I actually liked it, except that the saving grace, that element of surprise or confusion is forever lost and all that remains is a fairly mundane mechanic.
The problem is that it happens all at once, and the player is not given enough time to understand the situation.

IMO, dom's second form should do small blood rain damage all the time, with a less significant looking shield protecting him. Then when the big rain comes, and the shield intensifies, the player would know what's up.
is it a problem that the player dont instinctively know what to do at all times?

Actually creating mechanics that don't have any clear indication of play is bad for the game.

So yes. Sudden "blood rain you die or you log out if you don't know what's going on" is a terrible wayto keep people playing.

I Personally got blood rain'd while Dom was offscreen the first 3 times I saw it. Talk about confusing.

... nothing to say to this ... PLEASE guys PLEASE. don't QQ, ask for help. thx.
If your new to ARPGs then most mechanics are new the first time. A co worker started playing a couple of days ago, never seeing a game like this. He shit a brick when Hailrake and his platoon froze and wiped their asses with him. After looking at what happened, he corrected his problems and beat him.

We all have to deal with the same mechanics. Figure them out, or play something else.

Dominus has one mechanic that surprises people.

Try running some endgame dungeons in Tera without prior knowledge.

You'll be lucky to find a party that wants to spend 30 minutes explaining it to you, instead of just kicking you and telling you to go watch some videos on youtube.

Really? I guess my guild mates and I are just smarter than average, since it only took us a few deaths to figure out the mechanic of it. Luckily, the first time you face him is in normal where you don't lose anything but maybe some portal scrolls by dying, unless you're crazy enough to play hardcore before first going through the content once in softcore.
