Geforce GT 555M low frame rate, and 0% GPU usage.

Using a quadro FX 2600M in my laptop at full resolution 1920x1200 sometimes I have a nice fluid 30+ fps and sometimes it slows down to 5-10fps So I'm not sure this is graphics card related. Same goes for playing in window mode.
(no 2nd graphics card here so there is nothing to enable or disable)

Internet speed has no relevance to CPU/GPU performance. When does your FPS dip, right after a load or just randomly? Does it happen after you've been running the game for awhile?
it's quite random... checked the background processes. Nothing there that suddenly skyrocketed and took more CPU capacity than before.

sometimes happens already when I start it, sometimes after playing a while and then gets better after a while. Unfortunately this is not very satisfying so mostly I try this for a while and then quit the game for the rest of the day, find something else to do.
Try defragging your hard drive and make sure that your fan's cooling fans/vents aren't obstructed. High temps could be causing your PC to throttle in an attempt to reduce temps.

Check the in game options to see if vsync is enabled - if it is, try disabling it. From the sound of the problem, I'm guessing that should smooth out your framerate.
555M have Nvidia Optimus? Maybe the game have Problems with it. Go in the Nvidia Controllcenter (no idea how its called in englisch) and use "always Nvidia Highperfomanceprocessor", or whatever this called in englisch.

Not to sound like an asshole, but if you'd disable your Intel Display Adapter in your Device Manager, you'd see the problem disappear.

But hey, my game runs perfectly fine for me, so no hair off of my back.

I have already tried that sorry I was away from the computer all day I'll be here the rest of the night if anyone here can offer any more advice

Thanks anyway.

Edit - with or without vsync no difference.

Thank you tho.

Hey guys, what I'm wondering is if the game is selecting the incorrect display adapter or if there is some other problem.

There is a command line option that you can pass to the client that will force it to use a specific adapter.

If you pass "-adapter:0" then it will use the first adapter in the system and passing "-adapter:1" will select the second, and so on.

If one of you with this graphics card could try starting the client with -adapter set to 0, 1, 2, 3 and so on until the game will not start and see if any of the adapters in your system cause the game to run fast.

If that *does* fix it, then I can add an adapter selector to the options menu so that you can select the correct one to run the game with. If it doesn't work then I'll have to do further investigation.
Path of Exile II - Game Director
it was being forced to use my basic adapter used when my GPU isn't needed, as if I was running google chrome for example. not my high performance card. I had to manually change the settings on my card globally to select it not just for this game. All tho no other game I own required me to do so. Just wanted to clear that up i have it running now at 100-125 FPS with all settings maxed out now.

So the fix for this would be to change whatever code it takes to make it use the more powerful GPU automatically for users that run a optimus card like myself. Because it was really trying to use my integrated GPU (On board mobile GPU that is not for gaming, that is there to save power) Instead of my powerful gt 555m card.

I'd really like to thank all GGG employees that helped me with this, Sharen (from in game), and all forum users that sounded in and threw me some ideas. Again the fix was changing my global settings on the nvidia card, changing the settings for Path of Exile on my card (which appeared as Dragon) did not have a effect.

Thank you all A LOT!

Could you go into more details of how to do this? Specifically on how I access the command line you are referencing , once I figure out how to do this ill reply to let you know if it fixed my issues, I'm also having frame loss and issues with an nvidia 500 series video card.
