Geforce GT 555M low frame rate, and 0% GPU usage.
Hey guys, if you could try out my suggestion in this post on the second page of this thread that would be appreciated - Jonathan
Hello, I'm using a GT 555M Nvidia Mobile graphics processor. This card runs Crysis 2 max settings 35-45 Frames per second, and StarCraft 2 max settings 50-60 frames per second. But Path of Exile I run it at 800x600 with all settings off, no shadows and I get about 25 frames per second on average. Also my GPU usage is 0% while the Path of Exile is running, in comparison StarCraft 2 and Crysis 2 brings my usage up to 95-99% at all times. None of the other games run with my GPU at 0% usage. Nor do any other of my games get such low Frames per second. I've tried re-installing drivers from Nvidia, and setting the game to run on the GPU GT 555M, all with no change in frame rate. Anyone got any idea whats going on, or is this a programming bug? That card should be able to run it totally fine. There must be something else wrong. Can you let us know what frame times you get with some combinations of:
a) shadows on b) higher resolution c) post-processing on To see if any of those have a major effect or whether they aren't the bottleneck. Also, is the CPU usage maxed out on one core while it's running? Lead Developer. Well if GPU utilization is 0%, in game settings won't make any difference. OP posted in another thread that his notebook features dual video cards, as a power saving feature.
Sounds like Windows or PoE is using the low power card by default. |

I was more inclined to believe it was being misreported (as 0% is obviously less than it'd use to get 25 fps), but I'm happy to accept it's using the low power card. To be honest, this reminds me that we actually have someone in the office with exactly the same problem... I'll look into it.

K, this is fixable. We'll try to get it in 0.9.2 or 0.9.3.

I'm glad you asked because this is extreamlly odd I'm getting 20 fps in 1600x900 16x texture filtering and Antilising quality 1. VS 800x600 everything off and getting 20-25 fps average. But Antilising 1 makes the screen smear at the top inch and a half of the screen (artifact). But when I turn off Antilising the artifact at the top of the screen goes away. Increasing the settings makes little to no difference in frames per second. very odd. Thanks Chris for the post and responding so quickly! Love the game!
EDIT forgot to tell you with everything maxed out still 0% usage of GraphicsPU. And CPU usage is actually very low, only engaging 2 and under 20% usage at the highest of the 4 cores. Disable your secondary video card and see if the problem goes away. -.-

Try running the game on maximum graphics (you probably did already), maximum resolution you can support and fullscreen.
The game actually runs better on max than low graphics on my computer. I don't know what the reason for this is. I have intel e8500 dual core cpu at 3.16ghz and ati radeon 4850hd gpu and 3g ram. |

Not to sound like an asshole, but if you'd disable your Intel Display Adapter in your Device Manager, you'd see the problem disappear. But hey, my game runs perfectly fine for me, so no hair off of my back. |

the framerate is varying a lot. Can it be connected to the internet speed?
Using a quadro FX 1600M in my ~2.5 year old laptop at full resolution 1920x1200 sometimes I have a nice fluid 30+ fps and sometimes it slows down to 5-10fps So I'm not sure this is graphics card related. Same goes for playing in window mode. (no 2nd graphics card here so there is nothing to enable or disable) Last edited by macray411#2620 on Sep 5, 2011, 3:57:27 AM
