Please Add an Ignore Button to the Forums.

My biggest peeve with forum moderation is when someone makes a thread that gets spammed and then locked because of spam. Then if they try to remake the thread they get shot down for trying to remake a locked thread. I've seen this happen a lot, and it basically results in giving a bunch of spammers/trolls control over the forum.

Don't lock the thread, just ban the people who post off topic spam, and delete their worthless posts.

Agreed after all if there is that much debate its obviously an important issue. Looting thread anyone.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.
This threads about an ignore button.

You are off topic.

I've shared my opinions about the moderation in the other thread. As for "ignore" button, it would totally be useless. Unless I want to post or search something in the forums I never login and I always see the ignored posts already. Besides - just like tpapp said in some thread before - broken watch shows righ time twice a day. I wouldn't want to miss those right times.

become a monster.
A broken watch has nothing to do with giving players the ability to make their experience in the forums more pleasant.

Permaximum means that being crass or rude doesn't necessarily prohibit someone from making a good point.

Yes, so if someone doesn't have anything good to say, why should I be forced to see it?

Good point or not, a post made of flames does not make for a great discussion.

I believe that at the end of the day the point made is the only thing that matters, and the method it's delivered is irrelevant.

Some people are too emotional to deal with information like that, but that's why they are caregivers and musicians and I'm a scientist.

imo, something 'good' is mandated from a 'good point' and if they have a 'good point' I have a duty to educate myself regardless of how it was delivered. That's a personal skill I have, and a personality flaw I'd say others have if they throw away education because they didn't like the package.

That's all well and good for you, however, when you have an individual who's spouting off nonsensical insults towards me, I believe they've lost all respect to continue any conversation with me.

Therefore it should be my choice to ignore a troll's posts with a nice little button that remove their wordage from my sight.

Adding said button will not effect your style of talk but will allow me to enjoy my time here on the forums that much more.

In a way, this is more desirable than deleting the troll's posts.

Censorship for everyone is a bad road to go down. Having stuff ignorable per-person is a lot nicer. No promises though, this isn't a priority and I haven't spoken to the rest of the team about it.

That's understandable Chris, and I agree, I wouldn't ever propose deleting a post unless it came directly from you guys.

This feature would help keep certain clutter down for individual users.

The only other thing I feel would help the forums in self-moderation would be a voting system.

Anyways, these types of features won't be needed until the game is launched. At that point having these features becomes very useful.
