Throwing Weapons?

I'm ALL for throwing weapons! I would love to make a throwing axe build! You could have a cool skill called "ricochet". Throw an axe and it bounces off of enemies. I could see the support gems making this build a lot of fun to play! Oh and I'm all for spears as well.
Give us javelins.

I like the idea. I don't think i would use them (at least not much), but more choises are always good ;)

Though it might be a problem introducing a whole new family of weapons - you need to balance the weapons themself, the active skills and don't foget that most likely it would also require some (maybe bigger) changes in the passive tree...

If GGG thinks they could add them i would say do it, if not - maybe a compromise could be reached with a (or a few ;)) uniques which would give you a ranged attack with them (it would probably be easier to balance one or a few weapons instead of a whole new weapon class). Since bows used a 'ranged melee' attack before 0.9.12 i guess it could be adde to other weapons as well(if making them real projectiles would prove to be to much work).

1) Projectiles, such as shurikens and kunais. They are DEX based weapons that have low base damage but high base critical chance. They can be equiped in the secondary weapons slot. Mainly, used as long-mid ranged support for melee builds. There should be nodes to improve them, so the melee builds that use them are not better in melee than pure melee builds. [PROJECTILE]

2) Thrownable Melee Weapons, such as Throwing Axes and Throwing Knives. They are STR/DEX based weapons that have moderate base damage and critical chance. They can be Dual wielded in melee and thrown at mid-range. [MELEE WEAPON]

3) STR based skill gem that throws the equiped weapon and disarms you for a few seconds, that cooldown will depend on the weapon attack speed (The more damage the higher the cooldown). [MELEE WEAPON BASED]


I like all these alternatives. I think that it would be fun to have a character that is decent at melee and also decent at long-mid range, builds that come to my mind if this gets applied are Ninja-like builds, Melee-Ranged Duelist, Berserker Weapon thrower Builds.
