Plea to devs to address the sexism
" Stellar post, glad you could make it bro. |

" That is one possible view, the one that supports your own opinion. The alternate view is that most women may not even care and that it is only some men that are offended on behalf of women. White-knighting is the term. I play the game mostly with a female friend (in her 30s), and she had never even noticed the decoration, and she's not offended by it. Actually, I have more female friends that play video games than I have males ones, and in almost all cases that you feel are sexist, it was usually me, the guy, who was offended by something. I'd ask a friend, "Don't you feel this is degrading?", and she'd answer, "Nope, I think it's sexy!". So, I'd put forward the suggestion that perhaps women aren't afraid to voice their opinion (and don't need you to do it for them), but that they simply don't care. If anything, I find the notion and implication that women are afraid to speak up for themselves, and need a man to defend their honor and interests, to be "sexist". Most women I know have zero trouble fighting their own fights because, you know, they are independent, self-thinking and entirely capable persons, too. | |
" I'm pretty sure people were violent before computer games had been available, but the thousands of years of documented history might be wrong though, who knows. |

All I merely stated in this thread was a feminist viewpoint, not mine. People's inability to think of things in any way but their own just shows what a predominantly ignorant society we live in. I don't understand how people can have so little thought or education to not understand
I don't care about any of the stuff in the game, either, as I have already iterated, however, understanding other peoples viewpoints is something I will accept if there is some form of (in this case moral) justification. Maybe if more people started doing this, we would have more of a community here rather than this fucking fragamentary, argumentitive travesty of broken opinions. Return to this flameless sunder

" the link is between when games come out (such as GTA) and INCREASE IN VIOLENCE. Especially in kids. obviously violence existed throughout history. The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

I think it's kind of interesting that the orbs are what's being complained about. I'm a feminist and the orbs have never really struck me as problematic, and my best friend (who is even more of a feminist than me) has played PoE a lot and never complained about the orbs. I can still see why they would make someone uncomfortable though, I don't see a problem with an option to remove them. It had the added effect of also not obscuring any of your life/mana, for those who have a bit of trouble with them in their peripheral vision or something.
" Also I just wanted to point out that you are wrong and these things are not what feminism is about. Last edited by Bunnu#1083 on Nov 9, 2013, 12:05:31 AM
