[New Video Added] Reizoko's Power Siphon Cast on Critical Strike Build

That's funny because I was totally going to link that video today but never got around to it. I don't think linking it with Culling Strike would ever really be worth the loss in DPS from another support. This is a moot point as we use Power Siphon anyways but even in a ST crit build.

I freaking LOVE how fun that looks though. Dropping massive lightning storms everywhere. Can't wait!

This reminds me to test Storm Call with Power Siphon to see if the weird hit interaction I noticed earlier is the case. If so, then Storm Call might actually be kind of bad with Power Siphon because PS projectiles can only tag the first row of mobs in a big group.

Edit: I just did a quick loop around Felshrine Ruins with PS + Storm Call and noticed the same hit-based targetting. It seems you have to tag a target with the attack that procs the CoC for Storm Call to paint the target. This is of course easier with ST because of the free pierce + boomerang effect, but maybe it won't matter much since this build can use 2 Storm Call + Inc. AoE and GMP can still hit a decent number of targets.

Well that would be crap-tastic.

It's a bit crappy with my 4L. I'll have to test again in 2 levels when I can use my 5L and have 2 Storm Call gems running. Hopefully this will also alleviate the issue of a target only getting painted once per Storm Call.
In the mid 50s now with a 5L. Much improved overall.

I'm using Fireball + Ice Spear as my 2 CoC spells. Fireball for hard hitting the mobs closest to me and Ice Spear for crit freezing packs and slowing them down. I sometimes swap out Fireball to try other things, but Ice Spear is a permanent addition for now. The defensive utility is just too good to pass up. I even picked up Doom Cast for more Ice Spear crits.

I've also learned that a Diamond Flask makes a pretty good emergency button. You're pretty much guaranteed to melt the entire screen before your Diamond Flask expires.

Frenzy is now in a 4L with Added Fire + Faster Attacks + Life Leech. It has helped a bit with single target damage and tankability, but single target damage overall is falling behind. This is to be expected for an AoE focused build.
Hi, I'm really having a blast with this build though unless it's a single target xD

Anyways, I was wondering how high accuracy should be? Mine's at 77% with Finesse. Are there nearby nodes to get more? I might have overlooked them.

To increase dps, would either the nodes to the left of Ballistic Mastery be good or is getting the spell damage per power charge above Instability recommended? The reason for that is I'm interested in Deep Thoughts.

Kinda in a bind where to go with 6 skill points available :/

I try to stay in the range of 80-85% accuracy. There are 3 x 12% Accuracy Rating nodes right at the Scion start that you can easily spec in/out of as needed. There's also a Wand Accuracy node right next to Elder Power.

Generally speaking, the single most important thing in a CoC build is to get more crits per second. We can roughly math out the difference between the 17% attack speed near Ballistic Mastery vs. +1 Power Charge.

The OPs build has 200% Crit with 5 Power Charges. At a full stack, you're running 450% Crit. The build also has 74% attack speed. These calcs use the OPs wand.

8% wand * 4.5 = 36% crit
1.68 aps * (1 + .74 + .15 Frenzy) = 3.18 aps
36% crit * 3.18 aps = 1.14 crits per second

With 17% atk speed
1.68 * (1 + .74 + .17 + .15 Frenzy) = 3.46 aps
36% crit * 3.46 aps = 1.25 crits per second

With +1 Charge
8% wand * (4.5 + .5) = 40% crit
3.18 aps * 40% crit = 1.27 crits per second

The choice is probably a bit of a wash. The Power Charge route might get you more crit, but you lose an easy 20% Accuracy rating node from the BM option. You gain some Spell Power, but it costs you some extra points. I don't think there's a clear winner.

Hey there! I am currently trying a quite similar build with my ranger. However, since I havn't played in a good while I'm kinda new to the Cast on Crit mechanic. Here's my problem:
My goal was to stack up projectile damage, crit chance and attack speed and use power siphon to procc the adjectant spells. I use 2x fireballs since they are projectiles and I skilled point blank. However, I seem to be more efficient if I just use a power siphon - lmp - faster attacks - faster projectiles - added fire damage.
I thought you guys could give me some hints on how to imrpove my build to get the cast on crit mechanic working for me. Here's my passive tree.

Next thing I wanna do after getting 'Charisma' is getting the remaining projectile damage nodes. I'd also like to further increase my block chance. After that I'd go for either the remaining attack speed nodes or stack up more life.

Here's my current gear:

And this is my Power Siphon Fireball CoC Armor:

I know there's alot of space for imrpovements. I'm currently looking for a higher aps wand. But as I said, overall a normal power siphon setup seems to be ore effective for me.
Thanks for reading!

Good spot mate! Spec'd them as soon as I read this XD

Thank you for the math, really appreciate it. I already have BM so I went and got Instability and the 3% spell damage to power charges. Going to leave Deep Thoughts for the mean time to get more life and a chaos resist node. I just felt the fury of the Wharf boss lol.

@zinsid

I'd swap Chain for GMP to get more chances to proc the CoC and more fireballs when it procs mate.

Loving this build.

Just got to level 60, and I'm wondering what passives people start taking after the build finishes.

Thanks!
