So multi-strike

Only real advantage of multistrike is increasing attack speed by 107% (level 20) and some mana saving (2 additional attacks for 180% mana).
You can substitute it with something else which add more punch instead of speed.

attack + more phys dmg + faster attack + fire dmg + life leech + splash (if you really want use single target skill as your main AOE... which is easy to get)
and we have 6L already.

New player get multistrike a way faster than 6L with right colour slots and def type.

Well, the problem is that there are already enough bad drops and a ton of worthless gems. Most gems are vendor trash, some might net you something between an alch and 2 chaos and then there are multistrike, gmp, cwdt and empower which are more valuable. If you make them as common as the others no valuable gem is left.

-The only quest that gives it is from the ranger and only from one of the last quests in the game on merciless.
-Rangers would NEVER even take the gem in the first place because its also the quest that gives cast on damage taken which the ranger needs for their build (all builds use it)
-Even if the ranger already had a cast on damage taken she STILL wouldnt take the multi-strike because cast on damage is worth more to sell than multi-strike

The only way multi-strikes enter the economy is world drops.

WTF.

This seems like a terrible barrier for new players. Johny newbie rolls a shadow decides he likes one of the many dex based skills. He realizes he doesnt have the strength to use melee splash so he tries to find a multi-strike but theres none in the fucking economy. Even if he finds one he probably won't be able to buy it even if he saves every single orb he gets through all of normel mode.

Where are you getting your info from?

EVERY SINGLE CLASS IN GAME gets multi strike as part of a reward in act 3 merc.

The quest in merciless gives it as an option to all classes.

People would be silly not to take that gem, as it is outrageously valuable to any melee build.

Kind of like how LMP is valuable to projectile builds.

It isn't that hard to find, but demand is high which means it will cost a bunch

multistrike was implemented to make melee viable

its fun

its good

don't nerf it.
The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
if you read trade chat top3 WTBs of last year:

1) wtb multistrike
2) wtb reduced mana
3) <generic scam offer>

Multistrike is currently more SoJ-type currency than GGG orbs. It has clear and real value.

and yes, its popularity is a clear sign of something wrong with it balance wise. slight nerf wouldnt hurt anyone and maybe make other types of builds (slow-hitters anyone?) viable

btw - in Fixture of Fate take 'cast on dmg taken', sell it for 2 multistrikes
so what we're saying here is that we need to nerf Multistrike, which btw... any melee build not 100% perfect gear is NEVER going to clear the screen as fast as MULTIPLE ranged builds. Makes sense.

What the hell are you smoking?

Also, look at reduced mana: a person only needs one reduced mana in most cases yet you can sell those infinitely. Got 12 reduced mana? Sell them at 2.5 chaos each? Sold in an hour. ALL OF THEM.

Should we nerf reduced mana? I think we should! (I'm being sarcastic and using your stupidity here.)

PS: The point of multistrike was to make melee more viable. But hey, maybe you're right and we should nerf LMP and GMP in the same way as multistrike! 180% multiplier to LMP, you don't shoot 3 arrows: you attack 3 times quickly in a row with 2x faster attack speed. Oh and the Less damage part should also get to 36% instead of 30%.
