The state of Wand slingers: Undeniable proof why wands are not viable and why GGG should fix them

wands are the issue by themselves:

wands affix pool is one of the widest in the game (staves being the second offender)

affixes possible on wands include everything except life roll, iir/iiq and.. and.. who knows?

in this situation finding a wand that is at least decent (150+ dps - how mediocre is that, but it is decent for a wanb) is very difficult

you need:
- good base type (imbued) with base speed and dmg. so lucky rolls on low lvl wands are garbage!
- attack speed roll
- local crit roll
- local phys% roll
- local ele/phy flat dmg, all possible

chance of that happening? incredibly small

meanwhile to roll a good spellcaster wand you need any wand type and 2-3 rolls with all others being nice extras

210pDps

I have this sitting in my stash for a while because I just don't know its selling value. I was thinking of trying to craft the attack speed mod but then again, I don't know if that's worth doing or not.

Can anyone please share your advice? Much appreciated :)

The witch area of the skill maze is pretty abominable, true. I would say iron grip strength-based wanding is stronger. You could go all crit crazy with ele damage in those int nodes though. Having a 10% base crit is HUGE, especially with Power Charges (which incidentally are easier to get for wanders). I would worry about having too much burst DPS end-game with the reflect on being harder to mitigate wearing cloth and the weapon life leech nodes being far away.

The real problem is how difficult it is to roll a decent wand. When you are sharing spell-caster affixes and weapon-attacker affixes on the same base item, it becomes much harder to roll something completely decent. Ron Weasley couldn't afford the repair; in fact, all of his other gear pieces were hand-me-downs. If Ronald could have spent a thousand galleon on orbs, he could have a very strong wand, but all he had was a bit of spello-tape which just made it worse.

I believe you are completely discounting the base 10+ crit chance.
You are also discounting Power Siphon, which is a 125% DE attack with Culling and power charges built in.

Wands are incredibly viable, and wanders can do a ton of damage.

Phys or Ele, attack wanding is strong. Dunno what you're on about OP.

I do agree getting a sweet wand is tough though, so many affixes. In saying that I used
to 76 in Onslaught (then noob died) and mid 80s in standard without too much problems (ele wanding via gear and auras).
We tested it extensively

"Cast on Crit" support gem has made wanders INSANELY viable.
A scion may be born of the rich, and as such hold more opportunity...
but a scion will never be able to appreciate the finer beauty of those less fortunate.

The reason no one plays wander is because there is no way to deal with reflect, not because the build or base item is bad.
This is why God invented Ranged Attack Totem and Trap.

Agreed.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
you make a thread about the viability of wands, and dont even mention crit which is were they really shine

according to your logic:

weapon with the highest base damage = best weapon

crit chance on said weapon = doesnt mean shit

undeniable proof, lol

I can prove you wrong. Just let me use the full respec on my 81 Hardcore wander that was able to run 74+ maps without even taking damage

And that video proves that "crafting" in PoE is a joke.

It is totally amusing how much crafting rituals they execute. :D
