Mixed Emotions about Open Beta arrival.

Gotta echo what Strayn121 said..be gentle guys :)
legacy migrations.... i can't stand it anymore

OPEN BETA NAUU
OB global chat will be hilarious. My sides are ready.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
First few weeks will surely be a MADNESS, but i mean everyone has been there before its just a matter of time before everyone will get used to it. And the various Open Beta Week-end gave us an idea on how to Behave and the way the chat will be. Patience is a virtue guys :)
on a side note more players, even if they QQ or ask stupid questions in chat = more "possibility" for GGG to make money and keep up the game so helping new players will be totally worth it..

I cracked up reading this. I might have to put a variation of this as my sig.

I gotta say it's really exciting to see open beta approaching. I'm really interested in what's gonna happen. I'm by no means a PoExpert, but if there's one thing I really like, it's helping out new players with tips, tricks, and information that they need to survive. I did it in Diablo 2, I do it in Aeon of Storms, and I'm looking forward for more opportunity to do so in PoE.

Also, with more players, shouldn't you have a larger creative pool to look at? Won't the number of builds being tried increase? Seems like a good thing to me.

For those of you that feel this way, that feel the way I do, I have made a nice little thread to help you prepare for the coming storm. It wont be easy, but we can do this, and survive. I know we can. Its time to Prepare for the OB

Honestly I didn't find a lot of the closed beta crowd to be as helpful as I'm hearing. Few days ago, a new player found an exalted orb, and so many people were trying to rip him off for it. I had to send him a message to "hold onto it". Ripping off new players is bad karma, and if you do that I hope the RNG gods screw you permanently.

There are going to be tons of the OB crowd looking to scalp stuff that new players find, like valuable orbs, and if I see anyone trying to do that I will personally say something about it. Maybe we should have a special thread to expose the ones who try and scalp new players? Shame on you. If I'm in the game, and got the chat box open, I'll make sure those newbs you all are trying to scalp know the value of what they got.

Yeah people here seem to have a pretty rosey view of the community. For the most part they would be right I guess but with a closed community there hasn't been anything to really challenge that. The real test will be how the current community reacts when the forums and global chat gets flooded with " FFA sucks!" And " we need a ful respec option". Then a very predictable break down in civility will happen as people choose sides and people's true colors will show. After all its easy to be nice when Tue company you keep is like minded, the real test of this community will be its reaction to those who may want something different out of the game. My predictiom is it will be no different from from any other game. Those that have been here for a while will defend every design choice to the death probably labeling those who.disagree as noobs, casuals or what ever while those on the opposite end will come back with words like elitists. We have seen small instances of this happening even now, we will see what happens to the community when its not so easy to sweep it under the rug.

I can already tell GGG that there is going to be a HUGE outcry about the FFA loot system in this game, and they can either choose to ignore the community and go with what they want, or improve it a little bit. The FFA loot system is archaic by today's standards and I don't like teaming and looting being as cutthroat as it is. It discourages teaming. They need to extend the timer on rares, orbs and uniques to at least 30 seconds to 1 minute. Or I'd prefer if 1 person grabs an orb, rare, or unique it gets rolled for.

Currently on teams you have people trying to rush ahead of the others so they can get a distance ahead and snatch all the loot drops with no contest.

I haven't teamed with many people but the ones I have teamed with will ninja loot a chaos orb or better even if it had your name on it. If loot is going to be that cuttthroat then why should I ever team with anyone? If they had a fair loot system, then I'd be encouraged to team more.

And I never teamed in D2 either, for the same reasons I don't team with people in this game.

They may as well just fix the loot system now before open beta.

GGG doesnt need to change anything regarding the loot system. Its their choice. That said , i would think the safest way to cater to everyones liking, would be to just simply increase the timer.

As for Roll Pop Ups on loot , fuck that , too much interference with fast paced game play. Just increase the timer to a reasonable standard , and were good to go.

Cheers.

PS : If GGG wont increase the timer, than simply remove it , as atm , its purposeless really.
GGG - Why you no?
What do u mean "becomes" the best arpg? I think from ppl who have played d3, tl2, and poe, 90%+ would say poe is the best:) but I easily see wat ur trying to say. Trolls will def come, but hopefully the community stays great.
