Maybe we could have some sort of Veteran icon on our account or in game? Something that gives no benefit over other players, but makes us look special and unique?... Just like the stuff ur going to sell on this page.

We have this already in game,

It's called a Kiwi

lol... I just meant ALL closed beta testers and.... Something that shows up at your name when you are chatting with the new players.... Or maybe u want to link ur kiwi everytime you say something? That could actually work lol XD.

WHAT ABOUT THIS??

When the game goes OB, GGG creates a new thread explaining EVERYTHING that the new players need to know about the game..... If the new players fail to read this, then it is their own fault XD.

FAQ.

Rarely will a new player read it.

Usually it's the players that have already put in a few dozen hours first.

Except Charan would have to link all 12 of his diamond Kiwis... the braggart. (I know it's not 12, but I claim artistic, or autistic, license)

Yeah Yeah i turned that shit into a complete joke.... But you get my point right? New players are going to spam the global chat like complete maniacs, so they need to know who were closed beta testers, and who were not closed beta testers.... Just a little golden CB icon next to their name or something...¨

Its going to be too much overload from new players if they dont get support... or maybe not but... still..... Would be annoying if the forums are spammed for a long time because the new players still didnt get to figure out to play for a long time.
I think trade channel is needed. Right now wts wtb are not that common but with player headcount it will be battle.net in early days people spamming WTS.

Option should be easy to choose like general chat.

I love general chat in game and i like to talk with people and check what they did find
Honestly I found a good community in HC, and I don't care about my "die at level 49 curse", I'll remain there and I hope it will remain "clean" from the "default" people.
I usually do help alot of new players and I'm happy with it, since I am anyway a grinder I have plenty of time for helping other via chat.
But in OB that will probably change, my friends will get in here and I'll have to help them first, but I'm sure I'm not the only one here wich helpes newbies.

I'm really excited for Open beta and I really do hope that Path of Exile becomes the best ARPG out there

Not *becomes* ... it already is.

Cheers.
GGG - Why you no?
My only fear is that the game might get "dumbed down" for the masses. Everyone knows that the latest in the Diablo franchise has been dumbed down to appeal to the WoW audience, it's not the way forward.

PoE shows some fantastic promise in its design.. that even Blizzard with it's multi million dollar development costs can learn from.

No worries, not going to happen.

D3 was CF'd to be a money printing device to reap the Diablo name value. (Fast money grab for the box and skim the AH)

PoE is crafted to be a game for the masses to enjoy first and pay for as they get more out of it.

Blizzard made their game with a primary focus on making cash.

GGG made their game to be the game they wanted to play.

Also remember, GGG planned for the super cuddly care-bears and Ultra HC as well in one aspect. They designed leagues into the model. There will be plenty of opportunity to join custom leagues with variant rule sets that will not dilute or even cross over into the main player base.

Aw, don't worry. All of us OB players won't be complete trolls and nubs. But I understand your concern. There was a bit of this in Firefall when the developers said they'd start sending out more and more invites. But not to worry, the community didn't get hurled into a pile of poo and while there is a bit of pining for the days of old, most of the old-timers took to the newblings nicely. Which is a big part. From what I've read (and assumed) since this is a game with loot, people will be people and try to rip others off. It's up to you guys, those who have been around, to help out and not be dickbags. If turning off global chat for a bit keeps you sane, I'm all for it. But turn it back on too. While I might be keen enough to read FAQ pages and do a bunch of research before getting into a game, a lot won't and that in-game help is a great way to show the community is accepting and awesome.

I don't think you'll have to worry about this game, itself, getting dumbed down. How many games can you think of that have been simplified after release? Diablo 3 didn't get simplified after it came out, it was designed that way from an early stage. Also, I don't see the difficulty scaling they did afterward as "dumbing it down". That just seemed like a practical need, seeing as they barely tested the damn thing anyway. Besides, for a game as complex as this one appears, it seems they'd have to tune it down quite a bit to be truly accessible to more casual players in the same way D3 is. The skill tree alone would have to be cut to a tenth its size for people who aren't used to (A)RPGs. Back to my point though, assuming this game has a sequel, that's what you would have to worry about.
